Recognising the urgent need for safe blood transfusions, especially for patients with thalassemia who require blood every 15 days, it is crucial that we ensure that donated blood is free from TTIs. We're committed to raising awareness about the importance of safe blood, particularly with NAT testing. As part of this initiative, we collaborated with NSS IIT Delhi during their blood donation camp, and engaged with active donors to reinforce the significance of blood safety and NAT testing. Watch the video to hear directly from our young donor advocates on how they will support blood safety practices. #Roche | #ValueOfDiagnostics | #NAT | #BloodSafety | #Thalassemia

🩸Your blood type isn’t just a number—it’s a key factor in medical emergencies. Whether you're in need of a transfusion or considering donating blood, understanding your blood type is crucial. 🩺 Some types, like O-, are universal donors, meaning they can be used by anyone, making them always in high demand. Certain blood types are also more common in specific ethnic groups. 🩸 Addressing the Blood Shortage: Delcon’s Approach The American Red Cross has declared a state of emergency due to a critical blood shortage and is urgently calling on citizens to contribute. According to a recent report by ABC News (https://lnkd.in/dGc4iiYw), the organization is currently grappling with the lowest number of donations in the past two decades. Hospitals are receiving blood components (whole blood, red blood cells, plasma, and platelets) at a rate that outpaces incoming donations. The Red Cross, a major contributor, supplying approximately 40% of blood donations in the United States, has found it necessary to implement restrictions on the distribution of certain blood groups. The situation underscores the need for strategic changes and efficiencies in the blood supply chain, with a heightened focus on enhancing the donor experience. At Delcon, we are committed to leveraging technology and design through our products and the OpenChair platform to enhance the blood donation process in transfusion centers. Our aim is not only to streamline operations but also to foster greater community engagement in the donation process by providing a simple and fast strategy for individuals to choose when and where to donate. If you are a registered organ and tissue you donor, one (or two) of the organs that you may be able to donate at the end of your life are your kidneys. Think of them like your body’s maid service—they’re responsible for getting rid of the waste and keeping your blood vessels super clean. Eighty-percent of people currently on Canada’s organ transplant waitlist are waiting specifically for a kidney. In Canada, the success rate for a kidney transplant from a living donor is 90–95% after one year and the transplanted kidney lasts 15 to 20 years on average. For transplants from a deceased donor, the success rate is also high: 85–90% of these kidneys are working well after one year and will last on average from 10 to 15 years. We like these odds—and so Canadians currently waiting for a kidney. Choose to leave well so that others can live well. https://lnkd.in/euepxqks Source: The Kidney Foundation of Canada #WorldKidneyDay #donateyourorgans #leavewell #livewell #organdonation

The Mironid Mudders are taking on Tough Mudder Scotland on 15th June to raise funds and awareness for the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Charity UK. We'll be put through our paces – 5 km of mud and 12+ hardcore obstacles – but we’re expecting teammate camaraderie to get us all over the finish line! At Mironid, we’re dedicated to developing new therapies to treat ADPKD (Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease) and other rare diseases. ADPKD is a debilitating inherited disease that causes cysts to form in the kidneys over time and leads to kidney damage and failure, at which point patients need dialysis or transplant. ADPKD is the most common inherited kidney disease, with 1 person in every 1,000-2,500 in the UK having ADPKD. The PKD charity is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals & families affected by PKD in the UK. They provide information, advice and personalised support as well as raising the awareness of the burden of PKD. You can donate here: https://lnkd.in/exwvJwtR ! More than 200 employees in the Hemofarm Group in Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina donated blood in the global STADA Caring Day, demonstrating a sincere commitment to the health and well-being of people and supporting the healthcare system. 🩸🌍 For Hemofarm and Hemofarm Foundation in Serbia, this was another opportunity for employees to organize blood donations. Since 2005, they have responded to the appeals of the Blood Transfusion Institute and individuals more than 100 times. Among the employees who donated blood were women and men who donated this precious fluid more than a dozen times, wanting to show that everyone's contribution is important when it comes to human lives. The urgency of blood donation cannot be emphasized enough, as someone in the world requires this life-saving intervention every few seconds. Therefore, Caring Day plays a significant role in addressing this critical issue by best connecting the mission of the STADA Group, Hemofarm, and its Foundation, Caring for People's Health as a Trusted Partner with the needs of people or the healthcare system. In addition to the humanity and solidarity carried by each act of donation, giving blood is extremely healthy as it contributes to the better functioning of the heart and vascular system. Anyone can be a hero. 💪 Become a donor.🩸 #30YearsCaringForPeoplesHealth #BloodDonation #CaringDay #Solidarity #Hemofarm #HemofarmFoundation #OneSTADA
