The employees of APCA members speak eloquently about what natural gas means to the future of our country and about the benefits that a career in pipeline construction brings to them & their families. "You know without jobs like this, the economy would suffer. This is what moves me and my family forward. I depend on this job a lot--all of us do." Sandy Hendrix, Site Safety Coordinator, Castle. APCA President Roy Weaver, WEAVER LLC, talks about the big role that association members play in helping America reach its energy needs: "We know that the supply in this country is not a problem. We have an abundant supply of natural gas. We just need to be able to get it where it needs to go. We need to be able to get it to our homes, our factories and our communities." https://lnkd.in/exXVgtqg “According to new data released by the Environmental Protection Agency, emissions from the state’s major power plants increased by more than a million short tons last year, largely due to heightened activity in the regional electric grid. Four out of five facilities that reported data saw emission increases between 52% and 72%.” “Due to heightened activity” in the electric grid. This was to be expected as electrification slowly is taking hold. In the meantime, there are significant negative carbon implications here. That’s why Northeast Chapter of the CHP Alliance continues to promote #CHP as a tool for reducing carbon today since there is science proving it has lower emissions than the grid. #CHP should be supported by policy makers until the point when the technology fails to be cleaner than the grid.

I support organizations in creating sustainable workplaces with comprehensive culture and risk evaluations.
The Swiss Cheese Model warns that small holes in your defenses can align. Are you letting your culture take bites out of the processes that are supposed to protect you? This training from Renewable Construction Academy equips you with the skills to recognize the early signs of cultural erosion, ensuring that those bites never line up to create larger operational vulnerabilities. If you or your organisation support Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) or WindEurope you are a perfect candidate for the training. #SwissCheeseModel #OperationalExcellence #SafetyCulture #RiskManagement #OrganizationalCulture #ProcessImprovement #LeadershipDevelopment #ResilienceTraining #CulturalTransformation #PreventiveSafety #HighReliabilityOrganizations #ContinuousImprovement #WorkplaceSafety

Spent a bit of time digging into the numbers, to put some context around an issue many of us are experiencing but possibly not fully aware of. Definitely instigating some discussions about how and when to approach EIA/Screening/Scoping for BESS and solar >50MW projects. #EIA #energystorage #solar #renewableenergy
Jenny Hazzard, Head of Environmental Planning at ITPEnergised (part of SLR) takes a closer look at the lengthening timescales for EIA Screening Opinions for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects in Scotland and offers some advice to developers at the crucial early stages. #eia #batterystorage #BESS

➡ Will a new offshore wind procurement in Massachusetts cost ratepayers too much? No - and we have data 🔢 to prove it. ➡ I am delighted to share with you a review (commissioned by the Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM)) of a new analysis that examines the ratepayer impacts of contracting the full 3.6GW of offshore wind energy⚡solicited by Massachusetts in the historic tri-state solicitation with Rhode Island and Connecticut. ➡ The review by Industrial Economics, Incorporated (IEc) confirms that contracting the full capacity of the solicitation will result in a less-than-1% increase in the average Massachusetts residential consumer's monthly electricity bill.💲 ➡ This reaffirms for ELM that Massachusetts and New England as a whole can be ambitious on offshore wind while protecting ratepayers at the same time. Please share far and wide! 🌍

Business Development, Strategy, Intersectional Sustainability Practitioner | Working to ensure a just energy transition | Nature lover
I’m proud that the first significant project I worked on at Stantec fed into Nova Scotia’s Clean Electricity Task Force Solutions recommendations released last week. Regulatory change and innovation are critical to meeting decarbonization goals, so seeing the recommendation of a More Access to Energy Act and the creation of an Independent Energy System Operator to manage the operations of the electricity system, take a more holistic systems approach to energy planning, and procure and make integration of low-carbon solutions more fair and transparent (and hopefully a lot quicker!) is uplifting. Check out the report here: Report-February-23-2024-Final-Signed.pdf (cetaskforce.ca) #regulatoryinnovation #energytransition #netzero #cleanenergyfuture

Regarding the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s recently finalized Clean Power Plan 2.0 (CPP) rule: "Under this regulation, one that is arguably illegal, existing coal and new natural gas power plants will be mandated to install emissions control technologies that aren’t yet commercially viable. Plants that don’t comply risk permanent closure." by Gabriella Hoffman & Christian Palich of the Independent Women's Forum Center for Energy and Conservation https://lnkd.in/gHfg3wfe via RealClearEnergy #oil #natgas #energy #EPA #fossilfuels #coal #naturalgas #powergrid #electricity
