Our latest #CMI #newsletter is out now: One topic: Creating Net-Zero Value Chains First established in 2019 within the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the Low-Carbon Emitting Technologies (LCET) initiative, the CEO-led Global Impact Coalition (GIC) was officially launched as an independent entity by seven global chemical companies in November 2023. Focused on reducing carbon emissions and advancing circularity in the #chemical industry, the GIC provides a platform to co-create new business models, develop proof-of-concept pilots, and scale-up new technologies. One of the projects to accelerate the transformation to a low-carbon and circular future is the recently launched R&D Hub, aimed at advancing new plastic recycling methods. In an interview with CHEManager International, Charlie Tan, CEO of GIC, explains the initiative’s scope and describes some key activities. 👉 What is the role of #innovation in the #NetZero transition? 🤝 Is collaboration a "nice to have" or a key success factor in this transition? In a recent article published in Sustainable Plastics, author Karen Laird writes: A strong belief in the urgent need to defossilise the chemical industry and the realisation this would be possible only through a collaborative innovation approach led to the formation of the Global Impact Coalition (GIC) in 2023. A spin-off from the World Economic Forum, GIC was founded by seven of the world’s leading chemical companies. Sustainable Plastics talked to Charlie Tan, CEO at the GIC, about its mission and goals. “Innovation in the context of collaboration will be core to a company's business model as we all move towards a low-carbon future,” he emphasised.
