💨 Winds of trailblazing news at GREEN GENIUS!   We’ve signed a 92 million EUR loan with Swedbank Lietuvoje to construct an 80 MW wind farm in Jurbarkas district, Western Lithuania. It’s one of the largest financing for a wind park in the country to date.   Rokas Bancevičius, our CFO, states:  "The 80MW wind farm in Lithuania will further improve GREEN GENIUS development and construction portfolio diversification in terms of geography and technology. Aira has successfully raised €145 million in a Series B financing round, led by investors such as Altor Equity Partners, Kinnevik, and Temasek. I am happy to share EBRD's first energy deal of the year, following the approval of our new Energy Strategy 2024-2028 last month 🌍 Our equity investment will support #renewables and #storage projects in our European countries of operation. The structure used is an #equity participation in a fund which in turn will invest in green projects through equity. It is an interesting alternative to direct equity or loans, as it helps the diversification of funding models for the sector. The project thus brings significant #green and #resilient #positiveimpact. British International Investment (BII), FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, and Proparco, along with renewable fund manager Frontier Energy | Africa, have announced a co-investment exceeding $52 million in the Planet Solar project, a greenfield 50MW solar power initiative in Sierra Leone. Developed by Frontier Energy and One Planet Group, the project aims to address the urgent need for clean, affordable, and stable power in the country. Christopher Chijiutomi, Managing Director and Head of Africa at BII, expressed delight in bringing clean and reliable energy to underserved regions, emphasizing the commitment to climate finance. The investment aligns with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and aims to unlock more long-term capital for Sierra Leone’s energy sector.
