Today we're rocking our rainbow colours for #ChildrensHospiceWeek! 🌈 As proud #PlayItForward partners, we're celebrating the incredible work of children's hospices, including our very own local heroes at Hospice Isle of Man. They're an amazing charity doing vital work right here on the Island, providing essential palliative care and support for seriously ill children and their families, giving them strength during difficult times. Let’s keep spreading the word and supporting this wonderful cause together. #ChildrensHospiceWeek #PlayItForward #HospiceIOM #RainbowCelebration

The Oval Partnership are once again taking part in the Samworth Charity Challenge on 18th May 2024 to raise funds for Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice. It's an exhilarating & gruelling adventure race for teams of four, where you are required to plan and navigate your way around the course in order to collect points. The event is held every 2 years and will see our team pushed to the limits on a triathalon course which includes Mountain, Canoe & Cycle stages with all being approximately 3 hours duration and will be held near Ambleside in the Lake District. That sounds easy right? Wrong! this isn't a walk in the park. There are 2 difficulties to choose from, Tough and Elite and we know from past experience they are not for the faint hearted. But the charity that we support makes this challenge worthwhile. Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice help children with end of life care and provide bereavement support to their families through what is such a challenging period to make what time they have left special. Please follow this link to donate: https://lnkd.in/egw6pGYv Every donation will help them no matter how big or small. Thank you so much for your donations from all of us at The Oval Partnership 😊. Today, MPs at the House of Commons were due to hold an important debate on the future of hospice care funding in the UK. With so many hospices facing a significant financial deficit this coming year (on top of those experienced last year!), this debate was never needed more, and was a light of hope for hospices up and down the country. But, they ran out of time to discuss this topic and hear from the MPs who wished to speak, and it is to be rescheduled. But the clock is ticking. How much time is left before many hospices will be forced to cut vital services, when demand has never been higher and these services are never needed more. What is important is that enough time is protected for this important discussion at this level - something that impacts all constituencies across the UK, and it provides us with more time to encourage our MPs to attend the next scheduled debate. It is completely astonishing that to receive patient centred end of life palliative care in the UK, delivered with compassion, dignity and respect, we rely on sponsored runs, open gardens, people buying second hand clothes and gifts left in Wills. Can you imagine treating maternity services like this? There would be uproar (and rightly so). So why is it acceptable at the end of life? PLEASE support your local hospice, so we can keep supporting you! #Hospicecare #Hospices #Charity #Dorset #ThirdSector
It was timely to see such a powerful articulation of the importance of children and adult hospice services on BBC Breakfast this morning. Thank you to Barbara-Anne Walker and Claire Shaw from Ashgate Hospice , Gareth Pierce MCIOF(AdvDip) from Forget Me Not Children's Hospice , and my colleague Katie Reade of Hospice UK for together making the case so strongly why today’s debate in Parliament must lead to fairer (and more) Government funding for the country’s charitable hospice sector. The time for serious discussion and action is now. If you missed it you can watch it on BBC Iplayer - I have put the link below this post as a comment - section starts at 2.17.10

Charity Support for Special Children The special children are those who need extra help to perform certain activities. It might be physical or psychological. Difficulty in speaking is one such physical disorder where the children couldn’t pronounce the words clearly. It takes a lot of effort to speak, unlike the other children who can speak clearly and smoothly. They cannot speak quickly. The latest (2023) Give.org Donor Trust Special Report unveils insights on charity trust and accountability derived from a survey of over 3,100 adults in the US and Canada. Key findings reveal that while 70% of participants prioritize trust before donating, only 20% have high trust in charities. In December 2022, veterans organizations (27.9%) and not-for-profit hospitals (27.1%) surpassed religious organizations as the most trusted category for the first time. Following closely were religious organizations (26.1%), animal welfare (25.9%), and social service charities (24.9%). The report highlights the top factors signaling charity trustworthiness: 1) accomplishments shared by the organization; 2) third-party evaluation by an independent entity; 3) name recognition; 4) financial ratios (a top choice for wealthier donors); 5) passion and sincerity in the appeal. #Charity #Trust #Accountability #GiveOrg #Survey #Insights

Today is the International Day of Charity – a fantastic opportunity to recognise the amazing work carried out by charitable organisations around the world, and to make a donation if you can. We know there are lots of charities to choose from, but here’s why we’d love you to choose RAPAID: 👉 A casualty can tragically bleed to death within just three to five minutes, often before the emergency services have time to arrive. By equipping cabs with life-saving bandages, RAPAID empowers ordinary people to flag down the vital resources they need to #stopthebleed within those first, critical minutes following an injury. 👉 RAPAID's focus is on stopping the bleed. Your funding helps us extend our mission far and wide, ensuring that emergency bandage kits are accessible in a variety of public places – from schools and taxis to workplaces and other venues. By supporting RAPAID, you're contributing to building a resilient community where people are equipped to help each other in times of crisis. Together, we’re creating a safer UK, one kit at a time. Well, that was fun..! I decided to test an upcoming activation concept for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana by running a mini version myself. I’m happy to reconfirm that peer-to-peer fundraising is alive and well! 🎉 And no… it does not need to be tied to an event or special occasion. In a little over 24 hours, I exceeded my goal - raising $1,500+ from 24 donors. Here's what worked: ✅ Great Tech: A seamless and straightforward platform and donation process thanks to my BFF Fundraise Up. ✅ Individual Donor Recognition: Every single contribution was celebrated - personally and publicly! ✅ Regular Updates: I kept the momentum going with live progress shares. ✅ Personalization & Storytelling: Every message came straight from me, with personal anecdotes wherever possible. ✅ Mission Tie-In: I made it clear why donations were so impactful at this specific moment in time. ✅ Multichannel Communication: I reached out to my community through texts, social media, and email. What did I miss? Anything you’d add to ensure the official launch of this campaign is a success? #peertopeer #p2pfundraising #fundraising #rmhc #keepingfamiliesclose
We made it! The first day of Spring 🌸 As the days get warmer, the need for support at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana grows. Summer is our busiest time of year as many families use the break to travel for treatments and surgeries. Mike McDonald and I have an exciting summer ahead welcoming another McDonald boy to our fam! 💙 As you look forward to relaxing days and family vacations, please don't forget those families who will be spending their summer in hospital rooms. These next few weeks are a critical time to rally the resources needed to help RMHC-CNI be fully prepared to support these families. I've set up a personal fundraiser to pay it forward and ensure we are able to provide a home away from home for everyone who needs it. Help me reach my goal:
Create a summer of support for RMHC-CNI families
