💫 When my arrival was announced, I was welcomed as the “helm of the ship”, and this year we have definitely traveled the course together as a global force in real estate. 📈 More than 1.5 million licensees are active with National Association of REALTORS®, over 60 thousand already lost in 2023 and this is projected to go much higher, as the upcoming year is a mandatory continuing education renewal. 🏔️ Indisputably one of the most challenging years in the history of real estate, I am immensely proud that RE/MAX Legends Chicagoland is finishing the year as the leader in closed volume* of over 40 offices in the Oak Brook territory as well as the leader in highest net agent count for recruit & retention in all of Illinois of 146 REMAX offices. 🎯With our most recent expansion, that is to be revealed soon, we may very well be the number one office in the region and perhaps the nation! Today I wanted to talk about #employeeengagement and while listening to this recording I've starting thinking about the four seasons of work life: https://lnkd.in/ghuHsbFD 🌷 Spring 🌷 The season of vigor, when we need to meet employees with the same level of energy and new growth they bring as new members of the workforce. A leader's work during this season is to greet this excitement and channel it to the right learning opportunities and job-related priorities. ☀ Summer ☀ The season of distraction. There are naturally times in each employee's life when work is not their chief priority. And this is something to recognize and support. Summer doesn't last forever and we want employees to find a welcoming workplace when the distractions of real life can be stored away. 🍁 Autumn 🍁 The season of productivity when employees have deep knowledge and expertise and rarely need direction. Just like trees, they don't have to be told to shed their leaves when the weather cools, but they do still require leaders to tend to their environment and needs. ❄ Winter ❄ The season when we turn our thoughts to legacy-building. When we are fortunate enough to participate in this season with an employee, our efforts as leaders should turn to recognition and creating the avenues the employee needs to pass a career's worth of knowledge and insight along. When was the last time you took the time to celebrate? I don't mean the end of the project team meal or the lessons learned debrief. I mean really celebrate who you are and who you have become. You are not the person you were 5 years ago, 12 months ago or even 6 weeks ago. You will have learned new skills, developed new perspectives and gained either wider or deeper experience. Rather than rush on to the next thing, busy, busy, busy, take some time to reflect not just on what you have done but who you have become as a result. Doing this allows us to gather evidence of what we are capable of and this evidence provides fuel to the fire of your confidence. I am celebrating three decisions that I have made in the last week about where I choose to direct my time, energy and attention. Why do good things always seem to come in threes? A few years ago, I would have encountered the same situations and reacted very differently. I would have felt it was my responsibility to 'fix' things. I would have thrown myself into the task, even if I didn't necessarily have the time and it wasn't what was best for me. Today, I can appreciate that's not my job. I'm not the same person I was and neither are you! Take some time to appreciate what you have learned and how you have grown.
