Pride Without Prejudice: Pride PEI Pride PEI's claim of fostering an inclusive community through their events starkly contrasts with their support for antisemitic policies, alienating Jewish LGBTQ+ members and their allies. What They Say: Pride PEI aims to create an inclusive community through their annual festival, parade, and ongoing social events, education, and advocacy. What They Do: Exclusionary Practices: By endorsing a BDS policy, Pride PEI actively promotes antisemitism. Creating a hostile environment for Jewish LGBTQ+ community members and their allies, Pride PEI has encouraged participants to display divisive pro-Palestinian symbols whose use recently has been to intimidate and incite. Selective Solidarity: Their support for a movement that marginalizes Jewish individuals starkly contradicts their professed commitment to inclusivity and respect. We call on Pride PEI to practice what they preach and ensure a truly inclusive and safe space for all. #PrideWithoutPrejudice #Inclusivity #PracticeWhatYouPreach #PridePEI #JewishPride

#IDAHOBIT2024 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ ❤️ A very important day in the calendar. 📆 Today, we proudly celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). Despite the challenges we face, including 62 UN member states still criminalising consensual same-sex relations and 59 countries restricting freedom of expression related to sexual and gender diversity, we remain resilient and united. While 35 countries have legalised marriage equality and 16 have banned conversion therapies, there’s still work to be done. Only 38 countries protect individuals from hate crimes based on gender identity, and just 5 do so for sex characteristics. So, let’s stand tall and celebrate our diversity ensuring nobody gets left behind. 🌈✊
Today is IDAHOBIT – the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. Founded in 2004, IDAHOBIT aims to raise awareness of violence and discrimination against LGBTQ+ people and to drive positive change. It's held every 17th May and is now celebrated in more than 130 countries around the world. IDAHOBIT reminds us that there is still a long way to go until all LGBTQ+ people are free and safe from harm. Today celebrate who you are and stand up for all those around you however they identify. #OneCommunity #PrideinSunderland #PrideinSouthTyneside #PrideinGateshead

Are you familiar with the Lawrence v. Texas Supreme Court ruling? If not, you should be. Just over two decades ago, in 2003, the decision decriminalized homosexual activity across the United States! This landmark ruling was a paramount step toward equality for LGBTQ+ individuals and made progress in reducing stigma and discrimination. It also helped lay the groundwork for further legal advancements like the legalization of same-sex marriage – which was legalized across the US in 2015. These are very significant and affirming judgments that recognize the dignity and rights of the LGBTQ+ community, who deserve privacy, respect, and freedom. While we can celebrate our progress, it’s important to remain committed to fighting for equal rights for all. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dw2nHV4h.

Equality, diversity, and inclusion are critical to being an effective regulator. We support the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia 🏳️🌈 A day to celebrate victories, but also draw attention to the continued struggles #IDAHOBIT2024 Our LGBTQ+ staff network provides support and community for our LGBTQ+ staff and also push for change within the organisation that can benefit LGBTQ+ doctors and patients. One recent example of this is our apology for the action we took against doctors who were cautioned or convicted under repealed homophobic laws. Our apology is addressed to all those affected by these cases, including the families and loved ones of the doctors involved and the LGBTQ+ community. In this blog, our network members explain how they brought past injustices of homophobia to light, and they share their feelings when they found out more about these shocking cases: https://lnkd.in/eyXKBgmJ

🌈 It's International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Let's stand together and continue to educate ourselves on how we can best support the LGBTQ+ community, and work towards a world free from discrimination and prejudice. As part of our commitment, we asked university students, "How can brands better support the LGBTQ+ community". These insights underscore the significant role brands play in advocating for and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Let’s take these insights to heart and continue to strive for inclusivity and equality in all that we do. 🧡 #IDAHOBIT2024

Today, May 17, is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. The Trevor Project shared its 2024 U.S. National Survey on the Mental Health of LGBTQ+ Young People. A key finding is “90% of LGBTQ+ young people said their well-being was negatively impacted due to recent politics.” Political candidates make a difference in young people’s mental health and their everyday lives. PAWPAC’s endorsed candidates are specifically vetted to determine their beliefs and plans about LGBTQ+ youth. Whenever an issue affects children and youth it is more than political, it is personal. Please read this survey and help PAWPAC elect its endorsed candidates in this pivotal election year. Work. Give. Vote!

Does #PrideMonth help raise enough awareness about LBGTQ+ issues? 69% of the readers of our publisher Yahoo said ‘No’ and we also agree that waving the rainbow flag just for one month a year is definitely not enough. Is it important to dedicate an entire month to the achievements and challenges of the LGBTQ+ community? Yes. Is it equally important to address these things the rest of the year? Also yes. LGBTQ+ issues go beyond Pride Month. Because as we see in the results of the surveys, the rights and freedoms of LGBTQ+ people are still not a given and in many people’s opinion are once again under threat. It is therefore important to show awareness and support beyond Pride Month. Because in reality, every month is Pride Month.
