Today let's look at the demographics in our sample! 😊 In the attached image you'll see distributions of our inpatient staff nurse sample by age and years of experience (both rounded to the closest year). These distributions reflect responses from just over 2,600 nurses. The median age for the sample is 33 and the median years of experience is 7. We are privileged to be working with a data set that reflects such a broad range of lived experiences - we will be utilizing subsets of our sample to look at how experiences change over the course of a nurse's life and career. Next week we'll be looking at distributions of our sample by shift worked and by specialty. In the meantime, let us know - what parts of the nursing population does your work connect with? Is being a Nurse fun? On some days, being a Nurse seems like the best Job to do and other times, you're trying to get past that one shift and return home. . . . MY ENTRY FOR WEEK 8 AS A NURSING STUDENT ON VOLUNTARY POSTING This week was chill and not chill at the same time. For a while now, I have been feeling overwhelmed about my whole life - remote jobs, business, clinical posting(voluntary), and my relationship with other humans. This posting has been such an eye-opener - showing me a brief of what Nursing School is all about and its struggles. I don't know how I will survive but I hope I surivive the whole training at School. This week started rough, and I found myself working in the Labour ward even though I planned to work in the Pediatrics Emergency to round off my Pediatrics posting. It all started chill until Tuesday when we had 3 SVD - Spontenous Vaginal Deliveries back to back. I was so exhausted when I got home and caught cold due to my exposure to Cold. I stayed home on Wednesday, rested a bit and went ahead to replay the classes I missed in the last few weeks. I got back to work on Thursday and witnessed 3 SVD again. I thank God for all the Patients who delivered this week at the ward. Friday was chaotic even though we didn't have any Deliveries. During my Shift, we had two women in Labour, but they delivered after my shift ended. Throughout this week, I had back pains nonstop and ageneral body pain. I cannot wait to be done and take a whole month to reset before school resumes. That's a summary of how Week 8 went for me. How did this week go on your end?
