Thank you Wright-Way Rescue for the opportunity to contribute! Click here to learn more about this wonderful organization in Morton Grove, IL and the lives they save: https://lnkd.in/d9WtyPK3. Build a better you by finding shelter that you can support! “Healthy Habits Can Add Up” Incorporating healthy habits while walking your dog is a fantastic way to improve your health. Below are three tips to get you started from WWR supporter and certified health coach Beckie Gacki, at Build UR Best U. Volunteering to walk dogs at WWR is a great way to get in your daily steps! 1. Consistency is key to maintaining good health. Establish a regular walking schedule for you and your dog. 2. Make every moment count. When your pup stops to do his/her “business,” don’t just stand there ... take this opportunity to remain active (e.g., balance on one foot, march in place, do a variation of a squat or toe raises, etc.) 3. Practice mindfulness. Have you noticed how much your dog enjoys these walks? Well, take a page from their playbook by being in the moment, enjoying your surroundings, breathe deeply, and clear your mind of distractions.

🚔 Law Enforcement Wellness & Resiliency: Preparing for the Holiday Season 🎄 As the holiday season approaches, we often think of joyous celebrations, family gatherings, and the gift of giving. But for our dedicated law enforcement officers, this season can also mean long hours, challenging shifts, and high-stress situations, making it a particularly challenging time both professionally and personally. To our brave officers and their families: Communicate: Prioritize open dialogue with your loved ones. Sharing your feelings and effectively communicating with each other can bridge the gap during times you're apart. Plan Ahead: If you're scheduled to work, consider celebrating on alternate days or creating new traditions that fit around your duties. Seek Support: Lean on your colleagues who understand the pressures of the job. Additionally, take advantage of counseling services and support groups available. Don't be too proud thinking you don't need help. Self-Care: Make time for relaxation techniques, physical activity, and hobbies that recharge your spirit. Remember Your Why: Recall the reasons you chose this profession. Your sacrifice and commitment do not go unnoticed. For the community: 🤝 Reach out and show appreciation. A small token, a simple "thank you", or even an attempt to appreciate the position the officers are in, can mean the world. 🧡 Offer flexibility where you can, whether it's adjusting holiday events or supporting local police family initiatives. To the families of our officers: ❤️ Your strength and sacrifice parallel that of the officers. Engage in self-care, lean on community support, and remember you are not alone in this journey. May this season bring moments of peace, understanding, and togetherness for our officers and their families. Let's all play a part in making it a little brighter for those who keep us safe day in and day out. #LawEnforcementWellness #HolidaySeason #FamilyFirst #wellness #resiliency #demandselfishness #CommunitySupport 🌟👮♂️👮♀️🌟 SolutionPoint +, LLC

Let's talk about unhealthy cliques in the office. Every company have that few colleagues in the department that have cliques, small minded cliques, these cliques gossip about others to each other, and live life like they 'wanna-be'. If you are new in a company, observe first, then distance yourself from such sect, because they will rope you in whatever nonsense they are up to in the organization. Learn the job, understand what is required of you, do your job, get paid and go home. Be firm in your approach with them and let them know your stands from the onset. Do you have any other information about this unhealthy cliques? Care to share? #VitaminFaith #happyweekend #stayposotive #abstainfromgossip

#worldbookday today. Not quite full on book character fancy dress, but a nod to my beloved #harrypotter and solemnly swearing that I am up to no good 😜. It comes the day after a fabulous event, hosted at Marsh McLennan for Chapter One UK. Having worked with them for over 5 years in my last company , I did a little ‘whoop whoop’ when I saw them listed on the interview pack for my role this year as social impact lead at Marsh. Why ? Because Chapter One offers volunteering aimed at the corporate community that is: ✅ High quality ✅ Impactful and reportable ✅ Good value for money ✅ Easy to manage ✅ Fun But simply, because they are just fabulous people to work with. Attending the event along side Liberty Global Sodexo KPMG AtkinsRéalis Turner & Townsend BOUYGUES UK HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd Breyer Group Sir Robert McAlpine CMS BDO Formula E The Vintners' Company The message from last night was clear. Social mobility and the future of our work force is depending on literacy skills being embedded at an early age and there isn’t enough resource to go round. We have a responsibly to do more. Why ? Because ❌ 1 in 4 children leave primary school unable to read well. ❌ 43 % of English adults can’t read well enough to understand basic health information. If you couldn’t make last night and want to find out how your company can tackle this social issue, message Sarah Taylor. There are children waiting for reading buddies right now. Actions speak louder than words.

Our #Wellness Committee must have known it was going to be a great evening for a walk when they shared these tips from the Institute for Well-Being in Law (IWIL), a nonprofit focused on advocacy, research and resources to establish health and well-being as core centerpieces of professional success. · Walk (briskly) whenever possible—e.g., to work, for coffee, to lunch, to talk to colleagues, etc. · When you drive, park far away. · Replace sit-down meetings with walking meetings. · While watching TV, walk on a treadmill, ride a stationary bike, or do strength exercises. · Don’t carry everything at once—e.g., take multiple trips to bring in grocery bags. · Walk your dog one more time. · Use a timer to remind yourself to get up and move at least 3-4 minutes every hour. Each day this week we'll join firms around the country in focusing on a distinct dimension of holistic well-being for legal professionals: Strength, Alignment, Engagement & Growth, Connection, and Feeling Well. Check back here for more ideas. #MilesWellness

📢Happy Workers Day! 📢 Yesterday was a reminder to celebrate the amazing people we work with.🎉I thought of some ways to do this, making small changes and creating big impact🙌 Appreciate🙏 A little "thank you" and "welldone" or a "public shout-out" can go a long way in encouraging your colleague who might have a lot of workload Actively Listen👂 Take time to listen to your colleagues' challenges and ideas. It makes them feel included and loved Invest in Growth📈 Suggest training programs, workshops, online courses that can improve their professional skills Celebrate wins (big and small)🎉 Putting a call through or showing up at a celebration will create a positive work environment. Be inclusive👨🧕👩👨✈️ Treat everyone with respect including cleaners, drivers and security officers. For example: a driver waits for you longer than needed or helps you during an emergency, appreciate them. You can buy them lunch or donate some personal items. These things go a long way What are your tips for showing appreciation to your team? Please share in the comments so we can all learn! If you like this, kindly repost and share♻️ #workersday #labourday #appreciation #happyworkersday

Show Me The Numbers Our engagement committee had been planning a trip to the FreeStore FoodBank. We secured approval from our CEO granting everyone 1/2 day off (and in a billable environment this is a very big deal!) After months of planning, we were excited to don our matching T-shirts and make the trip to help hungry children who wouldn't otherwise get weekend meals. Two days before the big event, I had a conversation that would forever change me. My boss, who we will call George, was in a state of panic. "How are we going to take half the company offsite for 1/2 day, when we're not meeting our quarterly numbers?" Altruism be damned, we needed to meet numbers. George and the C-Suite were extremely stressed over this. Similar to Tom Cruise's outburst in Jerry McGuire - "Show me the money!", George said, "Melanie, I need you to show me the numbers! How is the company going to benefit from attending this event?" I explained that this trip was a morale-building feel-good event to give back to the community and show our employees that we are a company who cares about other people. I tried to help him see that we can't always produce a hard number which will directly impact profitability. George proudly offered this alternative: "Instead, I have an idea.. let's get a temp agency to hire people who will work at the FoodBank. They get workers, people get jobs, and we get to keep our team billable to meet our quarterly numbers.. so everyone wins! We'll call it a triangle of happiness." As he said this, he outlined a triangle on his palm. Speechless. I looked intently at his face to see if he was serious… And the sad truth - he was! Again I explained that while it's difficult to put a number on the event, it was good for our team and it needed to happen. Not having the event would have been catastrophic to morale. As I left his office he was still shaking his head in discontent. The big day came and went, and our team had an amazing time. We created meals for more than 2500 children, took pictures, shared laughs and had a great team-building experience. Later that night as I was driving home, I received a call from George. He was very quiet (which is unlike him) and then he simply said, "You were right." It was a moment that has defined me ever since. I responded, "Can you show me the numbers?" To which he was gracious in his reply, "No you were right, it does feel good. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!" Later that year we went on to win, "The Best Place to Work" Award. And in the end, the numbers proved that we stayed the course in a good way - with engagement scores and retention. Sometimes you just have to believe.
