Extremely concerning article shedding light on the challenges faced by a 101-year-old visually impaired gentleman left without a panic button. This predicament highlights the human cost of transitioning from analogue telephone lines to internet-based services. Since September, customers initiating or renewing contracts have been moved to Digital Voice, necessitating a broadband router. However, this shift has raised concerns for vulnerable users as digital landlines are non-operational during power outages, rendering some panic buttons incompatible. Criticism has been directed at the pace of the rollout, initially slated for completion by next year's end. Following reports of "serious incidents," the government has intervened twice to extend the deadline. BT recently committed to a charter, promising not to transition panic button users unless their devices are compatible with digital landlines. Additionally, they vowed to offer battery back-up solutions in case of power failures. Read more about this crucial issue: https://lnkd.in/ejMsNeiV

Fibre Broadband and Marketing: why it's not always what it seems With the new Ofcom rule, it's crucial to understand that the terms "fibre" and "full-fibre" can only be used if the fibre cables run all the way to the home. But guess what? In the past, some providers used these terms for partial fibre (FTTC), leaving many of us confused. What packages are we actually paying for? 🤔 FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) vs. FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet). It's a game-changer! FTTP is the real deal – full-fibre from start to finish, offering minimal latency and lightning-fast speeds. On the flip side, FTTC is a mix of fibre and copper, which can impact your broadband experience. Imagine your internet at the speed of light with FTTP! ⚡️ But here's the question: Have you been sold a "fibre broadband" thinking it's full-fibre? Don't be fooled by marketing – know the difference, and demand the high-speed experience you deserve! Let's clear the confusion around "fibre" once and for all! #FibreTruth #FullFibre #BroadbandRealityCheck
