Lina Taylor, a two-time Olympian in beach volleyball, was initially cut from an elite team in Bulgaria at 16. Instead of giving up, she chose to attend practices anyway. Her determination paid off as the coach eventually allowed her to play. This led to her becoming a starter and winning the national championship. She was later selected to represent the national team. Have you ever had to prove someone wrong? What steps did you take to stay in the ring? We want to hear from you in the comments! #catalyst #olympics #determination
Have you ever been cut from a team that meant a lot to you? That’s what happened to Lina Taylor, but she showed up the next day anyway. Her perseverance would later serve her well as she transitioned from being a volleyball player in communist-controlled Bulgaria to competing in the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics in beach volleyball. She learned a valuable lesson: “Not only are opportunities not going to be given to me,” she said, “but sometimes they could be taken away.” It would be the Catalyst to her understanding that if she wanted something, she would have to create it. Watch her story and ask yourself: What, Why? My question: Why does this matter to me so much? Peaceful, healthy, happy people. Cleanliness. It’s a big circle of how deeply interconnected things are. Segregation at source, waste resources management, climate action, life skills, coping mechanisms to handle any challenges, suicide prevention, mental health, ,clean air, clean water, green trees, blue skies, healthy families, good roads, buses and cycles, nutritious food, safe environment, empowered women, quality education…… My answer: We have this one home called Earth 🌎 and just one life as human beings so let’s get inspired, encourage each other to live happily, peacefully with respect and dignity. Do your best and shine on. Never ever give up! What matters to you so much that can make you cry and try again?

#snsinstitutions #snsdesignthikers #designthinking VOLLEY BALL Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. A few of the most common faults include: causing the ball to touch the ground or floor outside the opponents' court or without first passing over the net; catching and throwing the ball; double hit: two consecutive contacts with the ball made by the same player; four consecutive contacts with the ball made by the same team; net foul: touching the net during play; foot fault: the foot crosses over the boundary line when serving or under the net when a front row player is trying to keep the ball in play. The ball is usually played with the hands or arms, but players can legally strike or push (short contact) the ball with any part of the body. A number of consistent techniques have evolved in volleyball, including spiking and blocking (because these plays are made above the top of the net, the vertical jump is an athletic skill emphasized in the sport) as well as passing, setting, specialized player positions, and offensive and defensive structures.
