Petroleum Storage Depot Virtualisation Success   At Lodicon, we're thrilled to share the successful virtualisation of GE Digital’s SCADA and Historian platforms for a petroleum storage depot. Our focus on high reliability and data availability has yielded remarkable results for the end-user.   The system architecture features redundant server hardware hosting various virtual machines. Redundancy is ensured with a GE Digital Cimplicity HMI/SCADA application server pair. This setup enables seamless change-over in case of any hardware or software failure, eliminating the need for user intervention. Do you know what an ENI file is?   The EtherCAT Network Information file – abbreviated as ENI file - is a standardized XML-based document containing the EtherCAT network information relevant for the EtherCAT MainDevice, like the acontis technologies EC-Master. It includes information about the topology, the position of the EtherCAT SubDevices, the communication and configuration information like cycle time, initialization commands, as well as the process data structure of all connected devices. The file is generated by an EtherCAT configuration tool like the acontis technologies EC-Engineer and is provided to the EtherCAT MainDevice to operate the network. The ENI file can be compared to a combination of an organizational chart and process description, as it specifies how EtherCAT devices are connected to one another and what functions they serve. It is a crucial part of configuring and commissioning EtherCAT networks and is thus specified as part of the EtherCAT standards. #acontis #EtherCAT #DoYouKnow
