At AtoZero.Official, Asia’s premier, industry-led, practical platform dedicated to net zero energy transition, our representatives Raymond Lee and Haoxin Xu attended the conference to engage and exchange knowledge with fellow energy professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders on the topics of sustainable energy and net-zero transitions. Key takeaways from the event: 📌 To achieve Net Zero by 2050 as committed by all ASEAN countries, the need for bankable renewable energy projects in the region is apparent. The message is clear that there is no shortage of funding from funds or government in pursuit of achieving Net Zero – working together to present bankable cases is key. 📌 Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage #CCUS is a necessary measure to help achieve net zero but how proven is the technical solution? Learning from countries with first-mover advantage is key to fast track the development. 📌 Major joint efforts have been put forward by governments, private sector stakeholders, agencies to explore the establishment of cross-border CO2 value chain, enabling the future credit market and CO2 transactions. 📌 Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Alternative Fuels (AF) while currently challenged by high costs, could be looking at commercial scale deployment around 2030, driving strong commitment in #decarbonisation of the maritime and aviation industries. This could also encourage value chain development of CO2 utilisation for synthetic fuel. 📌 The ASEAN Regional Grid (ARG) can play a vital role in renewable energy deployment in the region thus benefitting the economic efficiency of participating countries in the long run. Distinctive power pricing system in each country is currently one of the major challenges facing ARG deployment, calling for collaborative and smart pricing mechanism to move forward. Denmark is at the forefront of recognising the pivotal role of CCUS in addressing climate change and has committed substantial funding to create a conducive environment to accelerate the development of CCUS. At Ramboll, we have conducted more than a hundred studies from pre-feasibility through to FEED stage for hard-to-abate and energy sectors. It was a privilege for Vector Sustainable Energy (VSE), Dr. Mustapha Hamdan to participate in the FES 2025: NESO Pathways to Net Zero - Topic Table Talk Day, hosted by National Grid ESO at the Pullman London St Pancras Hotel - NESO is the National Energy System Operator, an entity focused on overseeing and facilitating the transition of the UK’s energy system. The event provided a dynamic platform to delve into the critical challenges and opportunities shaping the UK’s energy future. Discussions ranged from long-term infrastructure planning to the transformative potential of hydrogen and emerging technologies, reinforcing the need for bold, innovative solutions to achieve net zero. Renewable technologies have made incredible strides, but key challenges such as intermittent supply and energy storage persists and will impact both economic development and energy security. Today, renewables meet 42% of the UK’s electricity needs, while gas still accounts for 40%. A successful pathway to net zero must integrate scalable innovation to address these challenges, ensuring a resilient, reliable, and economically viable energy system. The transition to net zero also carries significant short term implications for UK industry. With carbon pricing and penalties sectors like manufacturing are facing rising costs, potentially putting UK businesses at a short-term competitive disadvantage. It is therefore essential that the transition accounts for these pressures, providing adequate support to industries dependent on fossil fuels while investing in clean energy to secure long-term competitiveness. At VSE, we believe that the path to net zero must actively integrate emerging technologies. Data shows that advancements in these technologies have already led to significant reductions in costs and inefficiencies, making renewables more affordable and scalable than ever before. These innovations are key to complementing existing renewable sources and addressing energy reliability challenges. As these technologies evolve, they will continue to drive cost reductions and strengthen energy security. These discussions are vital as we work together to deliver the UK’s net-zero ambitions while ensuring a sustainable economic and energy future. #FES2025 #NetZero #EnergyTransition #EmergingTechnologies #Sustainability GREAT Trade and Investment Department for Business and Trade Department for Science, Innovation and Technology Stellantis Tata Group Ron DeGregorio British Steel Tristan Zipfel

🚛 Who is driving the energy transition in the transport sector? Should it be energy actors or transport actors? 💰 Who is funding the energy transition in the transport? Should it be public or private? ⛽ What is the fuel of the future? Should we be using electricity, hydrogen, biofuels or a mix? These are just some of the questions at the centre of decarbonising the transport sector. Transportation is one of the most energy-intensive sectors; its heavy reliance on fossil fuels and fast growing energy demand is slowing the energy transition. As Rabobank, we’ve placed sustainability at the heart of our strategy with our cooperative roots as key driver. And we’ve made significant progress. During the fourth edition of our Energy Transition on May 8, we shared the good news: we’re reaching the Energy Transition front runners, and the so called tipping point is approaching. However, we also face challenges: to make fully renewable energy possible by 2050, we need to reach the masses. But how do we activate them and ensure that everyone is involved in creating a future-proof energy system? This was the central question of our event, now renamed: “Reaching the Tipping Point”. During the event, Kirsten Konst and Kees Vendrik provided us with the latest updates and refreshing perspectives on the transition progress. While we hear alarming messages and feel the urgency, we also see opportunities and develop hopeful initiatives that accelerate the transition. Lesson learned: never let barriers hinder action. A special thanks for Kees for the overview on progress and stimulating messaging! Marin Boon, Huib De Mulder, Herald Top and Adrian C.W. Leach presented the key Energy Transition achievements within their business lines, demonstrating that Energy Transition is not just a concept but a viable business model. We concluded the event with a panel discussion featuring Kirsten Konst, Kees Vendrik, Johan van de Louw and Eric Lücke, discussing the international, local and political context that sets the stage for the unfolding transition. The world is shifting from fossil fuels to renewables, and while we’re on our way, we must further accelerate and collaborate to fulfil the important promise we made in Paris – a promise society currently doesn’t fully comply with. Many thanks to all who attended, the speakers, and the team. Join the movement and let’s accelerate together. #reachingthetippingpoint #energytransition #growingabetterworldtogether
