NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, has signed a non-binding MoU with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), for #partnershipopportunities in the proposed #bamboo-based #BioRefinery at NTPC Bongaigaon and other #greenprojects. NRL is a subsidiary of Oil India Limited, which is engaged in the business of refining and marketing of #petroleumproducts. Through this MoU, the two Central #PublicSectorEnterprises intend to enhance their footprint in #greenchemicals and foray into #sustainablesolutions to advance the efforts towards achieving the nation’s #NetZero targets and be partners in the development of #NorthEastern Region. The #MoU was signed on 30th January, 2024, in the presence of CMD NTPC, Shri Gurdeep Singh; CMD OIL & Chairman NRL Dr. Ranjit Rath; and MD NRL, Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan. NTPC is committed to achieve 60 GW of #RenewableEnergy capacity by 2032 and be a major player in #GreenHydrogen and #EnergyStorage domain. Binny New Re Energy Limited (BNREL) has achieved a significant milestone with the grant of Environmental Clearance (EC) from the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. This clearance allows BNREL to establish a 195 KLPD grain-based ethanol manufacturing plant in Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu, in accordance with the National Biofuel Policy 2018. In tandem with this development, BNREL has inked a 10-Year Long-Term Offtake Agreement (LTOA) with major Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) including Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Iocl), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited. This agreement, formalized at HPCL's Chennai office, underscores BNREL's commitment to supplying ethanol, addressing Tamil Nadu's ethanol production deficit. #India has unveiled an auction for the supply of green ammonia with identified 10-year offtake from domestic fertilizer producers, with a volume of 539,000 tonnes/year (min).
