♻️ Green is the new black 🌱 💚 Ho Chi Minh City is choosing green growth as its future development strategy, seeking funding for almost 30 priority projects to help achieve economic prosperity and environmental sustainability. 🙏🏼 The city wishes to promote innovation initiatives and multinational cooperation, calling for private investment to gradually transition to a greener and more sustainable economy, it was announced at a green investment promotion conference organised in coordination with the World Bank last week. 📌 Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has issued a list of 28 projects seeking investment to promote green growth. Of those, three high-tech manufacturing projects in electronics and semiconductors require more than $178 million. The city is also calling for funding for a data centre project worth over $300 million. 💰 The metropolis also seeks investment for research and development projects in electronics and semiconductors of about $8.7 million, and supporting industrial production projects with high technology of $14.3 million. 💡 Investment is also wanted for a number of projects in Thu Thiem New Urban Area such as a financial, commercial, and residential area costing $500 million; an exhibition, hotel, and trade complex worth $70 million, and a central square and riverbank park with capital of $220 million. 🛣️ In addition, there are projects to upgrade and expand major routes such as National Highway 13, National Highway 22, Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, Can Gio Bridge, and Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway. 🌊 Ho Chi Minh City is also looking for cash for five projects in wastewater treatment, environmental improvement, and urban embellishment. 🔥The latest research results published by the Institute of Environment and Natural Resources under the Ho Chi Minh City National University have showed that the city releases average annual total greenhouse gas emissions of around 60 million tonnes of CO2, mainly from industrial production, traffic, and living activities. At the same time, the city is also facing the negative effects of climate change, environmental pollution, resource shortages and economic crisis. 🤝🏼 Ho Chi Minh City and The World Bank Bank a joint working group two years ago and have had some results, such as a $650 million investment package for a 10-year programme, an investment scheme to upgrade public assets, and an integrated flood management scheme. 🎯 The World Bank is committed to supporting Ho Chi Minh City in accessing financial resources and attracting foreign resources to reduce carbon emissions. According to Turk, the carbon credit market is a good resource, and she hopes that Ho Chi Minh City can sell credits on the voluntary carbon market. https://lnkd.in/dx_-UbVC

SUSTAINABILITY: THE GOLDMINE FOR GREEN CITIES Have you ever thought of the potential that exists in green cities? Well, if you haven't, then it's time you started seeing the grand scheme. The Rockerfeller Foundation's 100 Resilient Cities initiative led to a significant clue: We found out that these cities are home to over a billion people worldwide. It's quite amusing to notice that these cities are so green yet house so many people, isn't it? ☑ But green cities aren't just about the trees. ☑ They entail all-round sustainability. ☑ They demonstrate clean energy use. ☑ They are about waste management efficiency. ☑ They encourage sustainable farming. Sustainability isn't just about protecting the environment—it's about coming up with plans and strategies that allow us to utilize our resources optimally. It's a world where production doesn't have to mean destruction, and growth doesn't have to mean damage. Businesses based in green cities have to adapt to this sustainable model. Doing so isn't a choice, it's a responsibility—a collective effort necessary for the survival and sustainability of our environment. There's an untapped potential in the African continent! As the world transcends into clean energy, Africa should be up on its toes. The continent boasts of over 300 days of sunshine, not to mention the untapped geothermal and wind energy resources. Africa's business sector can harness green city initiatives to contribute immensely to climate action, creating profitable and sustainable business opportunities. If you're already on the path, keep pushing. If not, it's time you made your first bold step towards sustainable innovation. Remember, your greatest competitive advantage is aligning your business strategies to merge profit and planet. Edwin Dela here, a seasoned brand strategist & marketing expert, ready to help you transform your ideas into sustainable ventures. Doing more good and a mindset change towards regenerative design and systems thinking is where we must be to enable a resilent thriving planet för people nature and businesses. Check out the support Ramboll and partners have developed to assist in this journey by sharing learnings. #regenerativedesign #letsclosethegap #ramboll #actnow
How can we create a regenerative city? Really excited to share the follow up report from the workshop I attended earlier in the year: “Creating a Regenerative City: Insights from the CLC-Ramboll Urban Lab” Launched yesterday by Ramboll and the Centre for Liveable Cities the report is a compilation of different articles from Søren Brøndum, Hossein Rezai, Trine Stausgaard Munk and me. The report was also informed by Singapore government stakeholders who co-led the lab and discussions. Take a look at some of our thoughts and ideas on this complex subject. You can read more on our findings here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dQRJqZPE The image is an attempt to show the messy transition towards regenerative thinking. Not everything will be positive, but I think if we are making holistic progress then we'll get there in the end. #ramboll #letsclosethegap #regenerativethinking #regenerativedesign
