Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio, as part of Project Cool, is working to protect the elderly in its community by distributing free box fans to seniors, who are more vulnerable to heat-related illness than younger people. Community partners, including Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio, came together 28 years ago to form Project Cool after the local fire department saw an increased number of calls from seniors who were succumbing to heat-related illnesses. https://lnkd.in/esNqwkr5

Well, that was fun..! I decided to test an upcoming activation concept for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana by running a mini version myself. I’m happy to reconfirm that peer-to-peer fundraising is alive and well! 🎉 And no… it does not need to be tied to an event or special occasion. In a little over 24 hours, I exceeded my goal - raising $1,500+ from 24 donors. Here's what worked: ✅ Great Tech: A seamless and straightforward platform and donation process thanks to my BFF Fundraise Up. ✅ Individual Donor Recognition: Every single contribution was celebrated - personally and publicly! ✅ Regular Updates: I kept the momentum going with live progress shares. ✅ Personalization & Storytelling: Every message came straight from me, with personal anecdotes wherever possible. ✅ Mission Tie-In: I made it clear why donations were so impactful at this specific moment in time. ✅ Multichannel Communication: I reached out to my community through texts, social media, and email. What did I miss? Anything you’d add to ensure the official launch of this campaign is a success? #peertopeer #p2pfundraising #fundraising #rmhc #keepingfamiliesclose
We made it! The first day of Spring 🌸 As the days get warmer, the need for support at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana grows. Summer is our busiest time of year as many families use the break to travel for treatments and surgeries. Mike McDonald and I have an exciting summer ahead welcoming another McDonald boy to our fam! 💙 As you look forward to relaxing days and family vacations, please don't forget those families who will be spending their summer in hospital rooms. These next few weeks are a critical time to rally the resources needed to help RMHC-CNI be fully prepared to support these families. I've set up a personal fundraiser to pay it forward and ensure we are able to provide a home away from home for everyone who needs it. Help me reach my goal:

Make their voices heard. In the UK, there are about 800,000 identified young carers and 1.7 million children in England with long-term health conditions face a heightened risk of mental health challenges, academic struggles, and missed educational opportunities. This can result in long-term social isolation, wellbeing issues and lack of opportunities in adulthood that affects the whole of society. So why are young people's needs overlooked, especially when they are vulnerable? Why are local youth zones, essential to ensure safe spaces for children and young people who don't have that at home or school, massively underfunded? Why do local authorities and schools fail to provide sufficient support and especially mental health support to children and young people living with challenging health conditions or difficult situations at home? Because we want answers and actions taken, Renaissance Foundation supports #ChildrenAtTheTable campaign. Sign the petition below.
Ahead of the upcoming general election, the UK’s five leading children’s charities – Action for Children, Barnardo's, The Children's Society, the National Children's Bureau and NSPCC – have come together. Supported by more than 130 organisations from the voluntary and community sectors, we want to make sure the next government has a plan to make decisions for babies, children and young people and put Children at the Table. The highlight of my week was Sussex Community Foundation's #SussexintheCity event. 132 people came to hear Torsten Bell of Resolution Foundation talk about the impact of the #costofliving crisis on ordinary families, and we explained how UK Community Foundations, are supporting vital local charities that are giving hope for the future. Torsten showed that inflation affects the poorest people most - many people find their budgets just do not cover their most basic needs. When times are tight most of us go to a cheaper supermarket, or buy own brands. But if you are already shopping at the cheapest place, there is nowhere to go but to skip meals. Many mothers are missing meals so that their children can eat. This is why we need local charities to help in this emergency. This crisis is deep, and urgent. It is also long lasting. But we can make a difference - by supporting your local community foundation you can help local charities today and for the long term, and truly change people's lives. #philanthropy #sussexinthecity #charity #communityfoundations

Children no longer actually need to be Digitally Literate in an "Hourglass Economy of Haves and Have-nots" at the dawn of the 4.0 Digital Revolution in the 21st Century. Regardless of "Accessibility Regulations" they have been dumbing-down jobs across the spectrum of industry, in fact, removing all traces of "Vocational Education Facilities" at Secondary Schools late in the last century. They the "Powers that Be" have been aware of children's vision loss ie "School Myopia" since mass education began dismissing it an "inherited vulnerability" in the 1960's !? PAUSE ⏸️ & take a minute to stop doing your day job, watch this video and whether it’s this important topic or something more personal to you, reflect on what really matters in life?
Meals & More has reported a huge increase in demand, as families face some of the toughest conditions since it began. The charity delivered record levels of support over the summer, as it sought to assist vulnerable families struggling in the face of the cost-of-living crisis. Meals and More helped 270 holiday clubs, provided more than 250,000 meals and extended its Big Day Out programme, which helps to give children an enriching experience over the summer holidays. This year, more than 2,000 children were given the opportunity to enjoy a Big Day Out. Peter McGrath, Operations Director at Meals & More, said: “I’m very proud of the support that Meals & More has delivered this year, but equally disappointed that we still must. We are so grateful that our supporters continue to fund us so generously, as without their donations we would not be able to help the tens of thousands of children that we do."
