“Flexible, dynamic environments that accommodate learning and social activities, responding to evolving needs of modern education.” A true collaboration with our project partners Mayoh Architects, the design for Macarthur Anglican School’s specialist senior learning facility the Warren Integrated Studies Hub reflects a deep understanding of the evolving needs of modern education. Responding to changes in the school’s educational program and recognising the proven benefits of outdoor learning, the spaces have been designed to offer flexible, nurturing, dynamic environments that accommodate a variety of learning and social activities. These spaces encourage hands-on exploration, connectivity, critical thinking, and creativity, allowing students to engage with their surroundings in a meaningful way. Each learning space has landscape views and access to outdoor learning spaces. The open-ended nature of the design lets students connect with the natural environment, whilst interpreting and using the space dynamically, fostering independence and collaboration. The future of education depends on our willingness to think creatively and embrace innovation at every level—whether it's designing the physical space, implementing new teaching methods, or creating environments that support student well-being. For school architects, educators, and interior designers, the challenge lies in staying AHEAD of the curve, seeking out NEW ideas, and always asking HOW we can make our schools better for the next generation of learners. In the end, the greatest innovation in school design is one that puts students at the center of the conversation—or as well like to call it—being #RadicallyStudentCentered™. Raymond C. Did you know that schoolchildren spend 8-900 hours at school each year? ⌚ That’s a lot of time, so our children should have the best indoor spaces to live, play, and learn in. As Europe, including the UK, faces a surge in school construction, it’s key that our architects and educators rethink school design. Here are three key elements that can improve school environments 👇

Emma Greenland presented her first CPD of the year to the team at Innes Associates Architecture & Urban Design this week. This Lunch and Learn session delivered via TEAMS showcased our work and research on 'Improving access to listening in mainstream schools' We provide practical guidance on how schools and architects can meet their duties to anticipate the needs of children with special hearing or communication needs (shcn) in accordance with key regulations and standards using a 'reasonable' adjustments approach. It was really useful to discuss Innes' recent experience on Post Occupancy Evaluation visits with Natalia Klus, Simon Innes and Corrie-Anne Rounding, share some common watch areas for acoustics which don't fall into the normal scope of compliance, and explore ideas for efficient acoustic finishes to meet inclusive standards. Thank you for virtually hosting us and we hope you found it informative! For more information on our Lunch and Learn sessions and to book your team in follow this link:-https://lnkd.in/ePq58mEZ We can deliver a session via TEAMS if this means more colleagues can attend (particulary where you have more than one office base), otherwise we travel to you and provide lunch! #cpd #lunchandlearn #educationestates #schools #colleges #universities #architects #acousticdesign #acoustictreatments #acousticfinishes #reasonableadjustments #compliance #inclusivelistening

Let pupils inspire developers when building sustainable neighborhoods!🔧 🌍Backed by the European Commission, "Desire" is creating a movement to set new standards and develop methods for transforming Europe’s urban living spaces. Through urban development, renovation, and construction, this project respects both our planet and our diverse ways of living. But what does this mean in practice? How do we create something meaningful from Desire? 🔧 With the right techniques and tools, young people can turn good ideas into valuable, actionable insights for developers. 📽️ In the project video below (in the comments), we demonstrate how, with the help of young people, we've brought the ideas behind "Desire" to life. This project has transformed thoughts and good ideas into real-life experiences that showcase its potential impact. To succeed in the Green Transition, we must involve people and change behaviors. For instance, by incorporating this initiative into schools using design tools like models, investigations, sketches, and design challenges. This: * Engages students in the building industry * Sharpens their focus and understanding of the green transition * Inspires both architects and developers 🌱🏗️ #GreenTransition #UrbanDevelopment #Sustainability #Innovation #Inspiration - Henriette Thuen

As an architect, you know the impact that natural daylight has on our well-being. But, do you know the transformative effects daylight has on students in educational facilities? A study by Heschong* revealed a 20% boost in math and a 26% spike in reading test progress among students in naturally lit classrooms. We believe daylighting isn't just about light; it's about a connection—to nature, productivity and well-being—and should be a fundamental part of building design. To ensure this, we created our Architectural Solutions Team to provide architects like you with the tools to design educational facilities that meet a project's aesthetic, performance and budget goals. Explore the possibilities and discover how: https://buff.ly/3LWAudM *https://buff.ly/3OroIZ4 #SolatubeInternational #NaturalLight #Innovation #BrighterSpaces #SolatubeDaylightingSystems #SustainableSolutions #Solatube #EducationalDesign #SchoolDesign #Education

#OutNow: DETAIL 3.2024: Schools >> https://lnkd.in/dFyRZkmc Daily life in schools has undergone a more profound transformation than any other public institution – and architecture is responding to this shift by adapting the programme to align with new digital teaching methods and educational concepts. This concept issue presents a compilation of new school buildings that address this change in various ways. From Copenhagen and Munich to Madrid and Antwerp, these structures cater to diverse educational institutions. Yet, they share a common trait: their rooms are not monofunctional but multipurpose, offering a spectrum of choices. A central objective of these cutting-edge school designs is to create opportunities for social interaction and meaningful encounters. In the digital age, this becomes paramount in schools. Students need an environment that cultivates community, allowing them to connect and develop socially. The crucial question is how best to achieve this. In this issue, we present projects by Compagnie-O Architects, V-architekten Gmbh, Marlon Blackwell Architects, EskewDumezRipple, Office for Political Innovation, C.F. Møller Architects and many more. Enjoy reading our concept issue!
