Last week I had the pleasure of attending Unifrog's webinar: Get to know the 2025 cohort with Unifrog. Here are some findings and takeaways I thought would be worth sharing, especially for my fellow HE people: - 63% of students choose to seek advice about their futures post-school from their parents/caregivers - 58% from their school - 30% from representatives from universities/employees There were also three trends amongst year 13 students that stood out: - Low confidence: Right now classrooms across the country are full of students experiencing extremely low confidence levels. - Financial concerns: Due to the current economic climate, this is a given but students are concerned. A lot are concerned about not finding part-time employment, the rising cost of rent, and also some consider their prospects financially post-university in full time employment. - Changing priorities: A lot of young people are now thinking about apprenticeships as a route post-school. Additionally, a lot are looking at the prospect of degree apprenticeships and vocational courses.

We were delighted to contribute to GP Business this month with our feature on how apprenticeships could benefit your Practice. Long gone are the days where apprenticeships might have been seen as a second choice if your grades weren’t good enough. Now, some of the brightest brains in the country are taking a realistic look at the huge price of a university place coupled with the cost of living and opting for practical career choices, with the added value of earning while you’re learning. And, as GP Practices start to embed new models of care, there is a real need to firmly commit to training and developing staff while also investing in new roles. There are so many positives – training existing staff can boost morale and confidence while attracting new people also improves diversity and bridges gaps in supply. Apprenticeships provide a future pipeline for clinical and non-clinical roles, counteract an ageing workforce, and simplify career progression. 🔸Read in full here: https://lnkd.in/dcwxy4pn #PrimaryCare #Apprenticeships Emma Bower Elizabeth Hodgson Channi Singh Simon Woodworth Deborah Pole Ed Ford Heather Ryan Katarzyna Broad Dr Walter Morel John Cosgrove George Gavriel John Stevenson Dr Simona Juverdeanu Tracey Teasdale Clare Nieland Tori Collier
