Luxury brands Gucci Prada Group Fendi Louis Vuitton Christian Dior Couture continue to have an obsession with #actionsports and the great #outdoors #skate #ski #surf Even Hermès got into the mix recently with “Hermes Camp” Hotel Jerome in Aspen Action sports and the great outdoors is a BIG business and it is where consumers are spending time and money. Question is, IRL are consumers wearing /using the luxury brands action sports and outdoor clothing, gear and equipment in urban environments or are the consumers actually using them for there intended purpose -sports and outdoors? #gorpcore IMO true sports and outdoor aficionados prefer action sport and outdoor brands Salomon Arc'teryx Equipment Amer Sports Mammoet Mammut Sports Group AG Patagonia norda run Haglöfs Burton Snowboards for actual sports and outdoor activities. And the luxury brands offerings -though some may be “technical performance” - are better suited for “apres” activities Moncler Stone Island and a handful of other brands are balancing between fashion X sport.

Impact Magazine has unique style for reviewing shoes! This Calgary, Canada based Sport magazine, is using a group of real world testers, athletes who are independent from the reviewer and are not associated with any podcast, retailers or brands! (we have had review sites say no to even doing a review of the shoe? - new brand, lack of curiosity, ego?) There were 31 shoes reviewed and shoes from large brands, New Balance FuelCell Super Comp Elite ($329.99 all in CAD), Altra Experience Flow ($180), Brooks Glycerin 21 ($200- one of my fav shoes), Hoka Skyward X ($280), Adidas Supernova ($180- I worked on the first Supernova early 90's) that received 5/5 ratings for their women's shoes from the test group ... oh and a new brand that I am proud to partner with, make the shoes, and support the founder, Lindsay Housman with her amazing project- the HETTAS Alma Tempo ($238) also received a 5/5, which for a new shoe brand, dedicated to only female athletes, against the R&D $ power of these large players, is a very good result. The fact that our review was by Dr. Syl Corbett- the owner of www.rockonclay.com, a natural, post run/athletic event recovery product- (worth your review and purchase) and who was a coach/trainer to Hall of Fame Canadian Hockey player, Hayley Wickenheiser, was really cool to read! Hettas has taken the proper steps, start with run studies with a diverse group of runners, do the in lab testing- SFU Weartech Labs w/ Dr. Chris Napier, who has supported Canada's Olympic teams and athletes, doing rounds of testing for fit and function and then running fit and function trials a few more times and building a product that properly fits many female runners and offers versions for the different types of road running many need and deciding sell it through Specialist Run shops (and @ www.hettas.com) The fit is our pride, but one we are always working to perfect, two insoles of varying height and polymers for adjustable fits and rides, the Super Critical midsole, the light CPU outsoles and a patent pending Pebax plate, all intended to get reviews like the one from IMPACT Magazine, and hearing from many user run reviews we get sent back from our brand adopters, on making a difference in their running. Supporting a start-up is never easy, capital is challenging to raise in this market, but doing the best shoe possible with leading edge tech, and truly listening to female runners needs, makes it worth the time and effort. It's time that Capital investors and Athletes lean-in to support and invest in brands making real efforts to care about the female athlete with sport products that make their activity more enjoyable! Traditional golf apparel is no longer par for the course. An influx of new golfers during the past few years has helped to change the overall look of the sport, meaning the apparel must follow suit.
