Fundraising channel trends captured this year by the European Fundraising Association (EFA) showed greater diversity than ever in fundraising channels. Social media, websites and email topped the list of most favoured channels, but most noticeable growth was seen in face-to-face fundraising as it rose to #4, overtaking mail and telephone from the previous year. As the cost of living crisis continues, regular supporters are making tough decisions about their ability to continue giving at this level. F2F not only helps refresh and grow this supporter pool quickly and efficiently, but does so through genuine human connection that most often leads to long-term supporter relationships. Are Donor-Advised Funds Facilitating Opaque Giving to Politically Engaged Charities? An excellent working paper by Brian Mittendorf of The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business and Helen Flannery of the Institute for Policy Studies. The short answer is yes: DAF sponsors disproportionately support politically engaged charities, defined as organizations involved in lobbying and electioneering. Free membership plus new resources for small charities The Chartered Institute of Fundraising has recently updated its range of support and information available to small charities and sole fundraisers/small fundraising teams. You can take a look at these resources here: https://lnkd.in/eF2p6kZi As part of its current three-year strategy the Chartered Institute also offers free organisational membership to charities with an annual voluntary income of £50,000 or less. 💰 Bank of Scotland Funding Programmes: Empower Opens: 12pm, Monday 3rd Feb Closes: 12pm, Wednesday 12th Feb Charity income must be between £150,000 - £500,000 per year Charities must have a minimum of three years accounts lodged at OSCR Charities can apply for a 3 year unrestricted grant of £150,000 (£50,000 per annum) The Empower programme provides unrestricted funding. Unrestricted funding gives charities much greater scope to cover all essential costs and deal with challenges quickly and effectively. Unrestricted funding can be used towards core costs, delivery costs, project costs and/or general running costs enabling charities to use their funding in the way that helps them best. A paper from the Productivity Commission highlighted that small charities are the most common in Australia, but many are stretched and are reliant on philanthropic giving. The report found that among the 60,000 plus registered charities in Australia, over half of all charities operate without paid staff. On average, charities with revenue under $250,000 receive 40% of their total revenue from donations, as opposed to grants or selling goods and services.
