Primal Timekeeping - How People Did It Before Watches and Clocks Before the wristwatch era, humanity ingeniously measured time through sundials, water clocks, and mechanical marvels. From ancient Egyptians to the Greeks, our ancestors harnessed celestial and natural elements to divide their days. Mechanical clocks in the 14th century revolutionized precision. Fast forward to the late 19th century, Patek Philippe introduced the first wristwatch, transforming timekeeping into a fashion statement. The 20th century saw water-resistant and multifunctional watches, enhancing their versatility. Quartz watches, born in the 1960s, offered unprecedented accuracy and accessibility. Today, luxury watches merge precision engineering with artful craftsmanship, symbolizing human achievement and our eternal quest for mastery over time. https://lnkd.in/dKmRYt84 My latest piece was just published by FratelloWatches. It features a battle between two of Patek Philippe's references (6119G vs 5212A). Similar in some ways (price, proportions, same line), different in others (case metal, movement, aesthetic approach) made for a very interesting comparison. Give the article a read if you have 5 minutes, or drop a vote in the poll at the bottom of the article for which references you prefer from the two presented! #patekphilippe #fratellowatches

The Quartz Watch Crisis: A Revolution and Challenge The Quartz Watch Crisis, starting in the 1970s, signaled a seismic shift in horology. Traditional mechanical watches, iconic for centuries, faced a new rival—the quartz watch. Accurate, affordable, and maintenance-free, quartz technology led by brands like Seiko and Casio swayed consumers away from intricate mechanical timepieces. This "crisis" forced renowned Swiss watchmakers to adapt or risk obsolescence. It gave birth to iconic models like the Swatch, steering Swiss horology towards luxury. Ironically, the very crisis that threatened traditional watchmaking ignited its rebirth, creating a dynamic industry, blending mechanical artistry with cutting-edge technology. 📸 Photo Source - Chrono 10:10

Just arrived! This is the Seiko 7A28-7020 Quartz Chronograph from 1983. It's the same model worn by Roger Moore in "A View to a Kill." I love the 7A28 movement because it was the first analog quartz chronograph movement ever made. (The 7A38, which came out later, is the same movement but with the added day/date complication.) One really cool feature is the 1/10 second sub-dial, because the hand makes a complete revolution every second when you engage the chronograph. Despite being over 40 years old, these watches tend to still run well because, despite being a quartz, the movement has some mechanical parts and even has 11 jewels. This is my fourth 7A28 /7A38 and now I consider that part of the collection complete. It is certainly the prettiest of the bunch. It's also my third Bond watch. 😉 If you like discussing wristwatches with down-to-earth watch enthusiasts, join our LinkedIn group https://lnkd.in/gawdMHER. Synchronized posting and utilization of Instagram's pin feature could be key for achieving success in your business! At IFL Watches AB, we've been diving deep into the opportunities of social media to craft a winning strategy that can stand out. I'm thrilled to share a sneak peek into our social media strategy, leveraging the power of Instagram Pins utility and same time posting! 📌⏳ Spoiler : the pins are not about showcasing our best performing content! 😉 Have you ever wondered how to make your content suddenly POP amidst the social media noise? We have and surely you as well. We've found an answer - probably not THE answer but still something : Mixed posts on a same timing. Our strategy revolves around posting a trio of content, thoughtfully mixing Carousels and Reels, and launching them at the same date and time. This is in the case of a new watch drop from us, so you can apply it to your own product and e-commerce. Results have shown that out of the 3 posted content, at least one will truly shine and make it to the Instagram "explore page" in a blink! Winning format can obviously vary according to the account you manage and what you traditionally post on it. Reels will capture attention with their dynamic nature, while Carousels provide in-depth information and storytelling. We noticed that even carousels can get a better retention rate than reels and engage more your audience who will want to swipe to check your entire carousel. By combining these two formats, we've seen one piece of content emerge as a clear winner every time, and going viral. The last touch? Instagram Pins strategy. Using this ingenious feature has proven a contributor to business success. Once your similar time scheduled content is going viral, audience coming through it will more likely go check your profile. Your 3X pinned posts will then be a key to the audience retention by : - First, being the first content they notice - Second, offering different format for the same product, both in fun and informative ways. - Third, giving extra chances for your audience to engage with your content. It will feel like a choice to the audience, there is a likelihood they will react to their favorite content out of the 3 contents. And that's how you gain engagement. To illustrate the power of this strategy, we recently applied it to our content posting for our custom watch Voyager Concept realized on the Seiko 5 GMT. Check out my colleague Ivan Fatoni 's detailed blog post about this past Limited Edition Concept to know more if you are a watch enthusiast 👇 Any of you follow a synchronized posting strategy on socials? Do you use the 3X pin feature on Instagram in a comparable manner? I'm eager to hear your insights! #socialmedia #strategy #communication #business #watches
