This week, Brighton City Council proclaimed July as Park and Recreation Month and recognized the integral role parks and recreation play in Brighton and throughout the community. Check out the Brighton Recreation Center Facebook page to see all the events planned to celebrate the month. Additionally, City Council designated July 19 as Park and Recreation Professionals Day, recognizing that the parks and recreation field is a diverse and comprehensive system that improves personal, social, environmental, and economic health. Thank you to all of our dedicated Parks and Recreation Department staff who work each day to provide recreational and developmental enrichment for children, youth, and adults, and to ensure our parks and recreational spaces are clean, safe, inclusive, welcoming, and ready to use.

Did you know that September 29th is National Day of Belongingness? Creating a sense of belonging in preschool classrooms is so important! We did an entire webinar on this topic with JaneAnn Benson that folks might find interesting. https://lnkd.in/eJfVEagQ
For more than 40 years, fostering a sense of belongingness has been at the core of Primrose Schools. From classrooms to our Support Center, we focus on creating and maintaining an environment where everyone feels welcomed and included and where our similarities and differences are celebrated with kindness and respect. In Primrose schools, teachers use books, music, engaging art projects and more to help children see themselves reflected in the world around them and share about the traditions and activities that are important to their families. And every year on September 29, we celebrate our National Day of Belongingness when we invite families from Primrose and beyond to join us in exploring the idea of belongingness and looking for ways to nurture this feeling at home and in their community. Read more about how a sense of belonging is fostered at Primrose. https://bit.ly/3Tm5lTO

New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC), Veteran Housing Corp would ask three questions about your housing projects: 1. How much funding, federal tax credits, or government benefits or incentives from all government sources did the projects receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants will not be displaced after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8

I started Camp Patriot at Stevenson High School in 2018 with the goal of (again) putting together a camp program that I can be proud of. We focus on building community, trying new things, and focusing on growth. It sounds like families are happy with us, too. Camp ‘24 ended on Friday and, as of today, we’re 50% full for summer of ‘25.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! 🍀 Today is not just about wearing green or hunting for four-leaf clovers. It's a day steeped in history, celebrating St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, known for bringing Christianity to the island and reportedly using the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. But how can we channel the spirit of St. Patrick's Day into property and community management? Easy! Here are a few tips: 🌿 Go Green: Not just with your outfit! Implement eco-friendly practices in your community. Think recycling programs, energy-efficient lighting, and encouraging bike-to-work days. 🎉 Community Engagement: Organize events that bring people together, much like the communal celebrations of St. Patrick's Day. A community potluck or a green-themed party can do wonders for neighborly bonds. 🌍 Inclusivity Matters: St. Patrick's Day is celebrated worldwide, em we bracing people of all backgrounds. Ensure your community feels welcome and valued, regardless of their origin. 📚 Educate and Share: Use your community bulletin or social media to share fun facts about St. Patrick's Day, spreading knowledge and joy. Let's take inspiration from this day to not only wear green but also to think green and act in ways that foster a strong, inclusive, and joyful community. May the luck of the Irish be with you today and always! 🍀🏡🌟 #RESCONGreen #StPatricksDay #CommunityManagement #GoGreen #Inclusivity #Sustainability #PropertyManagement #CelebrateCommunity

"City and Caltrans staff have a certain level of technical training, but it is really the folks in the neighborhoods and school sites who are the best source of information regarding existing conditions, as well as what types of solutions and improvements will actually be of use in the community." Mario Anaya, community development director of the City of Tulare, shares in our latest Safety Story of his work to improve safety for those who walk, bike, and roll in Tulare, including with the Comunidades Activas y Seguras (CAyS) program.
