🧠💻How can AI affect Information Systems education? Thank you Björn Svensson for leading a story-telling session on this topic! During the seminar, Björn discussed ongoing research in progress about the effect of Generative AI use in Information Systems education, shedding light on its potential benefits and challenges. The session sparked a dialogue on the intersection of AI and education, prompting attendees to consider the implications for future learning environments. What are your thoughts on the role of Generative AI in shaping the future of education? Which potential benefits or challenges stand out to you? Our story-telling seminars provide a platform for researchers to share their work and receive valuable feedback as they refine their manuscripts for submission to conferences or journals. Stay tuned for next week's story-telling session, led by Markus Lahtinen. #Informatics #AI #GPT #Education #Research

HAPPENING TOMORROW: AI seems to offer interesting opportunities for new approaches in teaching and learning, but many questions remain. Universities appear to have adapted one of three approaches, or a mixture of these: either disallowing the use of AI; using AI in assistive roles or using AI in integral roles. SACOMM presents "Using artificial intelligence (AI) in assessment," a webinar with Prof. Karen Ferreira-Meyers from the University of Eswatini as keynote speaker. She will address questions such as: -How AI offers opportunities to rethink teaching and learning -How to use AI in assessment without damaging academic integrity -How to design assessment tasks that include or exclude the use of AI This webinar will consist of a 40-minute presentation by Prof. Ferreira-Meyers, followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer session. 🗓️ Thur, April 11 at 12:30 to 13:30 📍Online. Over a third of students said that Generative AI had an influence on their choice of course, university and career. Read the other key findings of ‘Universities, students and the Generative AI imperative’: https://lnkd.in/e2ZMnnam In the report, we analysed results of 1,663 respondents to the QS Generative AI Academic and Student Pulse Surveys to provide institutions with a snapshot of the awareness, usage and perception of Generative AI in higher education. #GenerativeAI #EduData #HigherEd #Innovation #AITools

Academic use of AI for teaching is on the rise – New research After a period of profound scepticism towards AI among American academics, new research has shown that three quarters have now “taken at least modest steps towards integrating generative AI into their teaching”. This should come as a relief to universities that have been investing heavily in AI use for instruction. “A majority (66%) of instructors indicated being at least somewhat familiar with generative AI tools, while only 16% reported having little to no familiarity,” says a report on a survey published on 20 June by not-for-profit research organisation Ithaka S+R, which has run a triennial national United States faculty survey for the past two decades. What Teachers Need to Know About AI Date & Time: May 15, 2024 4:30 PM EST Preparing students for a future embedded with Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a daunting task, especially if you are their teacher. In this session of The Teacher Toolbox, Dr. Rebecca Meeder will discuss leading industry trends that students will need to know about once they leave education and enter the workforce. She'll also cover best practices teachers can implement now in their classrooms to better train their students to work with AI in their specific subject area(s). There are just a couple of days left until the AI in Education: Cut Through the Noise event at Epsom College, where I will be keynoting. The event will explore how we can use AI to innovate our teaching practices and have a real impact on outcomes whilst keeping AI accessible for all. Through the use of three case studies, I will explore how the deployment of AI by thousands of educators is already driving economic growth for the benefit of all of us. In-person tickets have now sold out, but the event will be livestreamed. Book your online place here: https://lnkd.in/eAjBq4VF If you've got other compelling examples of educators using AI in a high-impact way, let me know (in the comments below), we are seeking to draw attention to best practice far and wide. #AIinEducation #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #EdTech #EpsomCollege Founders4Schools, Maths4Girls, Superpower, Raspberry Pi Foundation

Guiding educators through the practical and ethical implications of GenAI. Consultant & Author | PhD Candidate | Director @ Young Change Agents & Reframing Autism
Join me next week for an exploration of AI and Assessment, using the AI Assessment Scale. This session is designed for K-12 and Higher Ed educators who are interested in encouraging students to explore Generative AI. The AI Assessment Scale opens up a discussion for how AI should/shouldn't be used in a given assessment, and is designed to provide clarity but both educators and students. It helps with academic honesty, since most students will do the right thing if we clearly demonstrate what "the right thing" looks like. The session will explore the 5 levels of the Scale from No AI to Full AI, and will offer examples across disciplines including all of the core curriculum areas, plus subjects like Business, Media, and others more suited to senior secondary and HE. Join me on Wednesday March 27th at 7pm AEDT (Melbourne time) / 8am GMT (London time) #ai #aieducation https://lnkd.in/g8m6Ge3X

Have you watch the Christmas Lectures from The Royal Institution yet? The three hour-long lectures are presented by Prof. Michael Wooldridge of University of Oxford on the theme of #artificialintelligence They are super - not really lectures, more of an interactive science experience! First and foremost they serve as a great introduction to all things machine learning, looking at the technical, everyday applications and ethical implications. Joined by an audience of school children it's fascinating to see how learning about AI will inevitably become part of our school curriculm and indeed education for wider society. But they also serve as an exemplar of communication, making complex ideas simple. It's quite a challenge to explain neural networks and neural machine translation to school children, but this is of course the test of how well you understand something. If you can't explain it so that school children can at least grasp the essence of the concept, then you probably don't understand it well enough. It's a question we can ask of any subject... how would I explain this concept to a child, or in a single sentence? Bravo to Professor Wooldridge and the RI team. #AI #aiforgood #aieducation
