Human activity is exceeding #planetaryboundaries, the very systems that make life on Earth possible. Food, water, and energy systems are threatened, as well as healthcare, education, and social services, and democracy, justice, and peace. Efforts to drive #sustainabilitytransformations need to connect local, national, and regional efforts. Identifying ways for the #GlobalGoals to truly go ‘glocal’ is pivotal for their achievement. Indeed, a diverse multitude of networks, communities of practice, initiatives, partnerships, and global transformation projects aim to do just that. Their approaches to localizing #SDG contributions are as varied as their diverse forms. This year, CLI’s Transformation Literacy Conference focuses on how different forms of transformation efforts, such as networks, partnerships, and global meta-collaborations – all contribute to localizing the SDGs. UN Summit for the Future Thanks Ambassador Wallace and Ambassador Brandt for the opportunity to contribute to the consultations on the United Nations Intergovernmental Process for the Declaration on Future Generations. Its time to redefine the Future. The Summit for the Future will convene those who believe that a better tomorrow can be attained for the benefit of people and planet. Currently we are faced with dire scenarios which challenge aspirations for a safe and sustainable future. Together, we have a duty to current, and future, generations to raise the ambition and the Declaration and Pact for the Future must serve as a compass to provide orientation and guide these efforts. The Network of Institutions and Leaders for Future Generations (NiFG) is an independent network of national institutions, organisations and leaders seeking better international governance, multi-lateral collaboration and joint-up decision-making to assure the rights, interests and wellbeing of future generations. We are responding to the consultation and call for minds and efforts to be focused on recasting and reframing the way we govern and engage, rather than simply seeking to provide a reflecting platform for the future. We need not only to inspire but define pathways for attaining this fairer, healthier, and more equitable future. Seeing the world through the eyes of future generations can change the way we relate to others, we organise ourselves, make decisions and act. Let’s embed these new frames and insights into intergovernmental governance for a more secure and safe future for all. #FutureGenerations #SummitfortheFuture #Education #NiFG

Summit of the Future: Reflections of a DRR Policy Advocate. Being involved in the summit's process and witnessing the evolution of summit of the Future was incredible. I assumed multiple roles. I served as a project officer with the UNDRR's Stakeholder Engagement Mechanism, facilitating the involvement of disaster risk reduction non state actors in the preparatory process of the summit. This included coordinating the drafting of key position papers for the zero drafts of the Pact for the Future, the Global Digital Compact, and the Declaration on Future Generations, side event applications, and conference interventions for various opportunities. I also had the opportunity to contribute to the engagement of young people. As a youth leader, I supported consultations to bring young participants up to speed on the summit's objectives by sparking discussions that encouraged youth to reflect on the relevance of the summit to their lives and consider what actions they should take. Building on this, I applied and was selected to co-chair the UN Civil Society Conference, which was held in support of Summit of the Future. During this conference, I led various activities, notably coordinating a session focused on bridibg the gap between policy snd art. This session created a platform for intergenerational stakeholders to communicate their visions and priorities for Summit of the Future artistically. I then travelled to the UN headquarters in New York, where I delivered the opening speech during the Summit of the Future Action Days. My speech amplified youth voices, highlighting our collective achievements and identifying what still needs to be addressed. However, reflecting on whether the policy frameworks ie the outcome documents of Summit of the Future, we have worked on for over a year have fully achieved their objectives is still an ongoing thought for me. Like many, I see the inherent value and noble intent that powered Summit of the Future as it sought to safeguard our future by reinvigorating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, accelerating progress, and devising new approaches to address emerging global challenges. My view as a civil society DRR policy advocate is mixed. It's a 50/50 outcome—both a success and a missed opportunity! There were notable wins, but we also missed the chance to fully leverage the moment for more impactful change. I look forward to exploring this further in upcoming article. #SummitOfTheFuture #UN #Policy #ThePact #CivilSociety
