I am proud to be a one in 700! Off the back of last weeks cleft awareness I share my firsthand experience of growing up with a cleft lip which has been a profound experience, one that has equipped me with invaluable lessons that have shaped my career and ultimately led me to become a CEO. Here are the three key things this journey has taught me: - Resilience and Determination: Facing surgeries and societal perceptions at a young age instilled in me a deep sense of resilience. I learned early on that challenges are opportunities in disguise. This determination has been my driving force in the business world, enabling me to tackle obstacles head-on and persist through tough times. - Empathy and Understanding: My experiences have given me a unique perspective on empathy. Understanding the struggles and emotions of others has allowed me to build strong, compassionate teams and foster a supportive work environment. This empathy extends to our clients, ensuring that we truly listen to and address their needs. - The Power of Authenticity: Embracing my differences has taught me the value of authenticity. In business, being genuine and transparent has helped build trust with colleagues, clients, and partners. Authentic leadership creates a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered to bring their true selves to work. These lessons have not only shaped my personal journey but have also been pivotal in my professional growth. They remind me daily that our unique experiences are our greatest strengths. 🤰 Pregnancy and the first years of life are an important window of opportunity for screening for domestic and honour-related violence. 👩⚕️ In Sweden, systematic screening during pregnancy was initiated in 2008, and with Denmarks new national guidelines in May all the Nordic countries now have universal screening for domestic violence in the first 1000 days. Pregnancy complications affect the long-term health of children with congenital heart defects. What is the extent of these complications in a low-risk population such as Danish pregnant women? These results are important for clinicians, obstetricians, maternal-fetal-medicine experts, pediatricians and families with children with congenital heart defects. We are investigating the extent in 600.000 pregnant women in Denmark and will hopefully be able to present our results later this year, Charlotte Kvist Ekelund #HealthNetworking24

As I reflect on this International Women’s Day, I think about how far we've come, but I also contemplate how far we still have to go, specifically in terms of the need for access to healthcare for pregnant women with diabetes.    Dexcom G7 is the first integrated CGM to be cleared in the U.S for pregnancy. We know that CGM can significantly improve newborn and maternal outcomes in people with gestational diabetes - experienced by up to 1 in 10 pregnant women, but only if they have access to it. This IWD, I want to recognize the many organizations, healthcare professionals and advocacy groups who work tirelessly to ensure that all pregnant women have access to the healthcare they need, including CGM. #IWD #gestationaldiabetes #CGM
