About us
The Connecticut Women’s Consortium (CWC) is a nonprofit organization that provides education, training, advocacy, and policy development on gender-responsive and trauma-informed care. Our mission is to ensure that the behavioral health system responds to the needs of women and the people and organizations that affect them. Our audience includes men and women, state agencies, nonprofits, clinicians, social workers, teachers, students, and others interested in mental health, addiction and behavioral health care. The CWC includes both local and national experts in our training catalogs. We also lead on initiatives and programs that support trauma-informed, gender-responsive practices, such as our Trauma and Gender Practice Improvement Collaborative (TAG Initiative) with Connecticut’s Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Why do we wear purple? Because 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience some form of intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Because intimate partner violence affects nearly 12 million people each year. Because domestic violence isn’t just physical—it includes emotional, financial, and psychological abuse. On #PurpleThursday, and every day, The Connecticut Women’s Consortium is committed to supporting survivors, raising awareness, and providing training and resources to eliminate intimate partner violence. #DVAM #IPVAM #IPVawareness #DVawareness #domesticviolenceawareness #intimatepartnerviolence #enddomesticvolence #enddv #endipv #traumainformedcare #genderresponsivecare #ctwomensconsortium #connecticutwomensconsortium
