Real Talk on Men Mental Health Week. This week our amazing Aftercare and Well-being Manager Stephanie, had some real conversations and open discussions with Chris, Jack and Stephen that shed light on the unique challenges men face in prioritizing their mental well-being in a society that often equates masculinity with suppressing emotions. From battling anxiety and depression to overcoming much more, their stories were raw, vulnerable, and inspiring, a huge thank you to all of them for their openness in sharing their journeys with mental health - the achievements, the struggles, the failures, and the lessons learned. Mental health and speaking openly about how your feeling is very close to me and I feel strongly that everyone, especially men should speak to each other more about how they feel. This week marks #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek - a week which resonates with many. Mental Health doesn’t discriminate, it can affect anyone and despite it’s prevalence it can often be swept under the carpet throughout society, it may sound cliché, but that is the undeniable reality. Every year, Mental Health Awareness Week provides an incredible opportunity for individuals and organisations to unite and shine a light on the importance of mental well-being. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. It's okay to reach out for support when you're struggling. Sometimes it’s easier to tell people we’re ‘fine’ than it is to say how we really feel. But with 1 in 4 of us likely to experience a mental health problem in any given year, (and with the cost of living crisis only making it harder to look after our emotional wellbeing), it's important to make time to talk... Since 2014, February 1st has been 'Time to Talk' day across the UK - it's an initiative by charities including Mind, Rethink Mental Illness, SAMH and Inspire Therapeutic & Wellbeing Services all about creating supportive communities and having conversations with family, friends, or colleagues about mental health.
