Day 5 – Our Airline Partners On this fifth day before KM Malta Airline's inaugural flight, KM640, to Catania on 31 March, we would like to express our gratitude and thanks to our Codeshare Partners, namely Lufthansa Group (comprising Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Swiss), Air France, ITA Airways, Royal Durch Airlines (KLM), Air Baltic, and Qatar Airways with whom we have entered into Codeshare Agreements well before the start of our operations. Our Codeshare Partners are key cornerstones of our network strategy since they significantly broaden our reach to Europe and beyond, enabling greater connectivity for our customers to and from Malta. These partnerships will strengthen KM Malta Airlines' market position and offer passengers enhanced connectivity and a more comprehensive range of travel options. Our Codeshare Partnerships will provide our customers with seamless travel journeys, from check-in at their departure airport to baggage claim at their final destination. KM Malta Airlines' strategy is to fly to key passenger and cargo hubs in Western Europe and to attach to the bigger airlines through Codeshare Agreements and Interline Partnerships. Indirect connectivity from these airports is, therefore, critical as a gateway to the rest of the world. #kmmaltairlines #aviation #travel #aviation #airlines #europe #malta #visitmalta #lufthansa #itairways #airfrance #klm #airbaltic #qatarairways

The Australia-Indonesia route is set to witness heightened competition as Virgin Australia seeks approval for a codeshare agreement with Air Canada on the Denpasar (Bali) route starting February 5, 2024. With Virgin Australia's current bilateral capacity share in major cities standing at less than 20%, the airline's move to establish a codeshare agreement with Air Canada is expected to noticeably intensify competition on the route. This strategic partnership aims to provide travellers with increased choice and alternative routes for international travel between Australia and Indonesia. The heightened competition is likely to stimulate improvements in service quality and could potentially result in more competitive pricing, as airlines vie for passengers in this dynamic market. I am not sure everyone fully understands yet what the default of FTI GROUP means for some Airlines. Germany's third largest Tour Operator, FTI GROUP (EUR 4.1 billion in revenue), defaulted yesterday at the worst time possible. Right before the Summer Peak Season, some Airlines (especially those flying to FTI Group's core markets, Egypt and Turkey) are in danger of losing up to 20% of their Summer Revenue. Revenue that most likely can only partially be recovered, given how close we are to the Season. That's the Revenue the Airlines need to have made by October to survive the slower Winter months. So this might be the perfect storm. Below is a list of Airlines that I know for sure FTI Group and its subsidiaries were booking its Passengers on (this is me patching the picture together, so there is no guarantee of full consistency; if you know of any other, please post in the comments). This list does not say anything about how severely they are affected, just that they are: Condor Flugdienst GmbH Emirates Eurowings European Air Charter Air Cairo BINTER CANARIAS SunExpress Qatar Airways Corendon Airlines Air Europa LATAM Airlines Lufthansa Petroleum Air Services Turkish Airlines TUI fly Air France Air India Limited Pegasus Airlines Discover Airlines KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Nouvelair Tunisia Marabu Airlines FlyEgypt Nesma Airlines

British Airways and easyJet both announced new routes this week between the UK and Tbilisi International Airport in Georgia starting next summer. BA will fly from Heathrow while easyJet will operate from London Luton Airport. easyJet will also start flights to the Georgian capital from Genève Aéroport and SEA Milan Airports's Malpensa. It is worth recalling CONNECT Aviation - Route Development Forum held their annual event in Tbilisi back in 2018. Pre-pandemic the UK had non-stop flights to Georgia with Georgian Airways (from London Gatwick to Tbilisi) and Wizz Air (from Luton to Kutaisi International Airport. AIR SERVICE ONE analysis of Cirium schedules data shows that in August 2024 Wizz Air is the leading carrier between countries in the European Economic Area and Georgia, accounting for over half of all seat capacity. Other airlines offering non-stop flights to Georgia are Georgian Airways, Lufthansa, Aegean Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, airBaltic, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, Transavia and Air France.

On Sunday 19-May-2024 British Airways (BA) flew scheduled services from London Stansted Airport for the first time since before the COVID-19 crisis. A departure to Florence was followed on the same day by flights to Nice and Ibiza. All three services are operated by BA CityFlyer on 98-seat Embraer E190 regional jets, with business class and economy cabins. From Sep-2024 BA will add a Saturday service from London Stansted to the Croatian coastal town of Split. BA's seat share at London Stansted is tiny, and it cannot expect to compete on price with the low cost airlines (especially Ryanair), which dominate the airport. However, BA is the leading airline by total seats between London and Europe. In restarting scheduled services from London Stansted, BA is segmenting the London-Europe market and giving more choice to its passengers. CAPA - Centre for Aviation https://lnkd.in/eB8eBY3d
