Okay, so Dyson job fair update. End of day one. We have a venue in Bristol now booked in for the 5th August. It will be during the day. Now capacity is 300. What we need: - employers with jobs that are signed off, good to go. You are in a position to hire, not some speculative 'talent pooling' endeavour You will get an opportunity to speak, to meet, to make connection with hundreds of individuals. For brand positioning, tangibility of getting in front of the people you want to, for some strategic talent attraction and acquisition it is a super unique opportunity. We have some world-class videography that you can call upon as part of that content piece. This is not just aimed at local businesses. ex-Dyson alumni are up and down the country. We also want some alternative speakers - whether that be Kickstarter, people that have started their own design agency/product business - ultimately that will be part of the thinking for many that are in this redundancy process. What are those alternative career paths for individuals who maybe now see this as an opportunity to explore. To make this happen, and to ideally make this free for those attending, we are going to need high levels of sponsorship to facilitate something of this scale. I can't sit back, watch 1000 people be made redundant and just do nothing. Hopefully you feel the same. hello@designtruth.co.uk Let's see where we are at by the end of the week / Design Truth. _ #industrialdesign #designtruth

Hi Brad, we have openings at Vaarst & Rovco in Bristol for robotics, software, product etc type roles. We're doing marine robotics and renewable energy focused data solutions.  I'm sure one of the engineering team would be up for speaking.  Let us know what else might help.

Have you thought about crowd-funding to get this off the ground? If just half of those 1,000 affected folks chip in £50 that's got get you a venue hire and some publicity. Very happy to both contribute and roll-up my sleeves.

Amazing effort Brad, love this. I’d like to think Dyson would contribute sponsorship towards an event like this. Maybe Someone who’s still there could poke around to drum up someone who could help. Ian Minards? Hanno Kirner? Greg Dussek?

Brad, you’ve got my number. Prototype Projects is more than to put in some sponsorship money for this great project. Dyson has sent a shock wave through our community.

Great idea! Maybe contact the brand new Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds, or someone in his team, tasked with growth. Imagine if even 20% of those people created their own businesses - the impact on the UK economy would be phenomenal - not to mention putting the UK on the global innovation map!

Dr Hilary Williams ChPP MAPM

Energy Systems Catapult have jobs that are currently being advertised that may suit some of those affected if that’s of help. We are a friendly bunch, and have at least one ex-Dyson alumni among our numbers 😀
