Partnership with Heidelberg Materials for the GeZero carbon capture project 🌱 thyssenkrupp Polysius will design the clinker production line for the GeZero CCS project in Geseke, Germany, following the signing of a front-end engineering design contract. The GeZero project, supported by the EU Innovation Fund, will be one of the first European cement plants capable of producing net-zero cement and clinker on a carbon capture and storage (CCS) basis. When completed in 2029, the plant will have a potential capture capacity of 700,000 tons per year and will incorporate the polysius® pure oxyfuel technology. 💡 💬 Christian Myland, CEO of thyssenkrupp Polysius, states: "We are proud to be involved in this flagship project for one of the world's leading cement producers. Together with consortium partners, thyssenkrupp AT.PRO tec has received €1.8 million in #funding from the #EuropeanUnion to develop an innovative process for #hydrogen injection in blast furnaces based on its #SIP technology. The research project could contribute to saving up to 20 % of CO2 emissions in steel production – using the existing infrastructure.
