To further collaborate with the offshore wind sector, DMEC recently became a member of NedZero - Wind Energy Association, the Dutch trade organisation for wind energy. The membership of NedZero allows us to strengthen the voice of the wider offshore renewable energy sector, particularly on the topic of offshore multi-source energy parks. Also, we can offer our network even more insights in the offshore wind sector by participating in several working groups. For more information about this collaboration, please contact Sander des Tombe. #offshorewind #multiuse #offshorerenewableenergy

Another step in the right direction towards green and sustainable electric generation for the future in the UK
Transforming wind into power: celebrating a milestone for Sofia Offshore Wind Farm Now in its construction phase, the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm is a flagship project for RWE. It will generate enough clean energy to power 1.2million homes, helping the UK reach its renewable energy targets. RWE is a leading partner in the delivery of the UK’s clean energy transition, with several more offshore wind farms in our UK development pipeline. Central to this project is the onshore converter station, which converts the energy harnessed from the North Sea winds into the electricity that powers our homes and businesses. The arrival of the transformers at Sofia’s onshore converter station marks a major milestone. As we celebrate, we look forward to a future powered by clean, renewable energy. Watch this terrific video to learn more about this exciting phase. A key concept driving change in the energy sector is net-zero (i.e. not adding to the total amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere) which is a factor in many countries’ energy legislation and is leading to the development of more offshore wind infrastructure. In 2022, 83% of new energy capacity came from renewables and, in 2023, 117GW of new wind infrastructure was installed. With significant existing investment in Europe, the USA and Asia, and many countries taking their first steps offshore, it’s a really exciting time to work with offshore wind.
