We're incredibly excited to welcome Omni Commons into the family. Omni Commons, the radical community organizing space developed in the wake of the Occupy Movement in 2014, faced severe financial difficulties exacerbated by the pandemic. Over the last three years, we have watched the historic space teeter on the edge of foreclosure; and when this unique cultural space that has been home to so many movements over the last decade was to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, we knew we had to step in. EB PREC moved swiftly with our nonprofit affiliate partner, the Collective Action and Land Liberation Institute (CALLI), to finance the acquisition of the embattled building making Omni the seventh liberated property in our cooperative network. In December, the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga announced a new partnership with Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to accept a $5 million line of credit. These funds are to be used to finance affordable housing projects with favorable loan terms. RWJF is also partnering with community foundations in two other areas, Cincinnati, Ohio, and St. Paul, Minnesota - both of which are more than four times as large as ours. As part of an agreement to replace the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, #Georgia, with a new stadium, Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta United sports teams, committed the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation to support the #revitalization of the English Avenue, Vine City, and Castleberry Hill neighborhoods surrounding the site of the proposed stadium. To help pay for these improvements, the Atlanta City Council approved an improvement plan in 2013 that established the Westside Tax Allocation District, including a $15 million community improvement fund for brick-and-mortar projects, and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation committed $15 million to the Westside Neighborhood Prosperity Fund for human services programs. We have all kinds of team builders in city hall...and they all seem to have some engineering degree or some other type of degrees...yet we have a poorly run city...it's time to cut manager numbers and budget overruns and growth on management payroll...less team building and better administration of the true owners money bag...hire the person that came to deal with the bad administrators of LHSC and waste of taxpayers money....I know city hall can afford to get rid of lots of managers and tie compensation structure for administrators with tax increases...we must do more with less management and with less money...no other business can be sustainable with the current funding model and business culture and model used by the corporation of the city of London...An analysis by The Canadian Press identified 17 charities whose top executive drew annual compensation that was in the $200,000 to $250,000 range or higher, according to filings with the federal government made in 2022 and 2023.Opposition building to proposed cut to community grants: 'Vital services' https://lnkd.in/gJRZxT-A

There were 34,150 fair housing complaints in 2023, the highest number of fair housing complaints recorded since NFHA began producing its Trends Report in the mid-1990s. Private nonprofit fair housing organizations processed the vast majority (75.52 percent) of these complaints, underscoring the need for lawmakers to allocate sustainable funding to support their critical work. In Washington state, the King County Housing Authority (KCHA) uses site-based affordability strategies that enhance access to existing and emerging opportunity neighborhoods, mostly by preserving affordable housing through the acquisition of hard units in these areas. Over the past three decades, these strategies have preserved or made available thousands of additional affordable units in high-resource sections of KCHA’s service area. These strategies include acquiring and preserving workforce housing, purchasing smaller apartment complexes to convert to public housing, and layering project-based voucher subsidies onto regional nonprofit development.
