There's no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to supporting the local communities living near our renewables sites. In North Lanarkshire, for instance, the local communities have decided – with the support of Foundation Scotland – to distribute the grants from the new West Benhar Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund through three existing local groups in the area. ➡️ The Hartfield Eastfield and Greenrigg Group will distribute the funding to Eastfield and Greenrigg (HEG) communities. It's an established charity and already manages funding from other renewable energy projects in the area. ➡️ In Shotts and Fauldhouse, Getting Better Together Limited and the Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Community Development Trust, will manage their respective share of the funds. Local people in Fauldhouse have already started to see the benefits of the grants, with: ☕ A £1,000 grant to support a barista training partnership for three young people from Burnhouse School, a local skills centre in Fauldhouse (pictured left) ☀️ A grant of £5,000 to provide a diverse summer programme for children (pictured right) and free lunches to children during the summer holidays. Our wind farms are helping to decarbonise the grid, but did you know they also bring considerable investment into the communities living nearby? For instance, the Fallago Environment Fund, has awarded more than £2 million to a huge range of projects across the Scottish Borders, since it launched in 2013. The Fallago Environment Fund is funded by Roxburghe Estates, Federated Hermes and EDF Renewables UK. Many of those receiving support from the Fallago Environment Fund will have had their funds matched. In fact, it's estimated that an extra £10 has been raised for every £1 donation from the Fund... which is a huge boost to the local area. The Fund has supported projects focused on: 🔸 Habitat restoration 🔸 Historic building preservation 🔸 New museums 🔸 Support for vulnerable residents and young people 🔸 Community events 🔸Covid-19 support Pictured (left-right) are Liam Haig, Area Manager for EDF Renewables UK and His Grace, The Duke of Roxburghe. #CommunityBenefitFunds #Scotland #Communities #Sustainability #OnshoreWind

The outpouring of support for the people of Maui after the devastating Lahaina fires, was truly remarkable. It shows the compassion and Aloha that we share for our neighbor island Ohana. Over $100million in donations went to two of the larger Non-Profits. Both amazing organizations, but because of their size, they have their own red tape. As a result, projects like Ohana Hope Village are not able to provide the essential work that needs to be done to get families out of hotel rooms and into a loving, thoughtfully planned community. Ohana Hope Village is an active job site, progress is being made everyday! Contributions to Project Empower and other smaller non profits that are much smaller and much more nimble have made sure to keep as many people as we can employed on this project. As many of you know, RevoluSun took the lead to power Ohana Hope Village with solar and storage instead of being grid connected. One reason was the time it would have taked to go through the process with the utility. And secondly, the cost, through generous donations and discounted labor we are able to provide Ohana Hope Village with all of their electrical demands at a cost lower than what the utility would have charged and the ongoing electricity bills for the site. We are just 6 months since that devastating day in September and the families are still living in Hotels. For those of you that gave the first time around, no matter which non-profit, I’m humbly asking you to give one more time. Some back of the napkin math, because of discounted pricing on product, labor and with generous donations, $8k gets one unit completed with a solar array, battery storage and mini split AC! You have my word and John’s, that 100% of your donation, is immediately released and used to further the solar installations at Ohana Hope Village. Please considering giving to www.projectempower.com
Despite governmental red tape, work is on-going at ‘Ohana Hope Village, because it is still a state of emergency for the people of Lahaina and Maui. We are keeping crews from Maui solar companies employed when many of them would be laid off during this slower time of the year, but the funds we’ve raised for this purpose are running low (and the larger non-profits have not been forthcoming due to their own red tape). For the sake of Maui’s renewable energy industry and their local economy, please donate directly to: www.projectempower.com www.ohanahopevillage.com Mahalo!

Community Impact Spotlight: Transforming St. Andrews Kirk with Edintore Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund 📏🔨 💪 At Koehler Renewable Energy, we’re proud to see the tangible impacts of our support through the Edintore Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. In 2021, St. Andrews Kirk embarked on an inspiring journey to enhance their facilities by applying for funding to create essential restroom and kitchen amenities. Before this project, the community members had to rely on the goodwill of their neighbors, as the kirk lacked basic toilet and washing facilities. This absence hindered the charity's fundraising efforts and limited the building's public use. Recognizing these challenges, the Edintore Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund stepped in with a grant of £5,574, covering initial costs for planning permissions and necessary consultations. However, as with many projects, the path wasn’t without its hurdles. The pandemic led to delays, including additional requirements from Aberdeenshire Council such as a tree survey and archaeological observations. Despite these challenges, our commitment to supporting meaningful community projects never wavered. In response, the fund provided an additional £13,281 to complete the project. This funding facilitated crucial work: from securing water and drainage systems to improving accessibility with a new disabled parking space. It also supported necessary renovations including decorating, flooring, and scaffolding for window repairs. St. Andrews Kirk now stands as a testament to the power of community support and collaboration. These enhancements not only provide vital facilities but also pave the way for increased community engagement and successful fundraising activities. We're incredibly grateful to be part of such impactful initiatives that drive positive change and strengthen our communities. Here's to many more projects that make a real difference! #communityimpact #sustainabledevelopment #renewableenergy #koehlerrenewableenergy #edintorewindfarm #supportingcommunities

We're pleased to share the positive impact of our rooftop #solar project with Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada: "In the first two-and-a-half years since the solar installation and LED retrofit, CCSN has exceeded its savings forecasts and reduced its carbon footprint by an estimated 651 tons of CO2 each year. That’s the equivalent of removing 141 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles from the road for one year. The project is also insulating CCSN from recent inflation in Nevada Energy’s cost of electricity (just over 21% increase since 2021), due to a fixed annual price escalator locked in by their Power Purchase Agreement." Check out the case study for more details: #nonprofits #energyefficiency #laudatosi
