IFC, World Bank Climate Business Team | Green and Resilient Buildings | Sustainable Finance | ESG | Senior Operations Officer

I have a deep-rooted belief in the power of World Green Building Councils to change the world. During my time as an architecture student at Boston Architectural College, I was beyond excited to volunteer at Greenbuild International Conference & Expo 2007 in Chicago so I could join for free. Sharing a room in a hostel with Pei Wan Cheng, AIA, this experience was pivotal for me, solidifying my passion for sustainable architecture and inspiring me to become a #LEED Professional as soon as possible. It's astonishing to think there were only 11 green building councils where in existence at this time. The trajectory for my career was clearly set! Today, I absolutely honored to attend the WorldGBC Africa Regional Network annual gathering as part of IFC - International Finance Corporation EDGE Buildings team with colleagues Temilola Sonola, Papa Odenyi Quansah, Conrad Sanama and Paul Kwesi Ocran. As the official sponsor of the event, hosted this year by Green Building Council Nigeria, the Future Cities Summit 2024 gathered CEOs from Africa’s 16 national green building councils and delegations from 15 major African cities. The Summit is a powerful call to action and shows how far the World Green Building Council network has come. I spoke with leaders from Green Building Council Uganda (GBCUG), Kenya Green Building Society, Botswana Green Building Council, Green Building Council Nigeria, Green Building Council of Mauritius (GBCM), Tanzania Green Building Council amongst others, and recognized the passion and drive that excited me so much back in 2007. To join the event (online or in-person) from 16-19 July in Lagos: https://futurecities.ng/ If you would like to meet during my time here in Lagos and Abuja, which ends on July 26, please reach out to me directly. I look forward to our continued collaboration towards our shared mission. #GreenBuilding #Sustainability #UrbanResilience #FutureCities #AfricaGBC #IFC #SustainableDevelopment
