In 2023, the Physical Activity for people with Chronic Conditions (PACC) initiative commissioned a project to develop a nationally agreed standardisation education and accreditation framework for exercise professionals working with people with long-term conditions. This project was enabled by funding received from the Dormant Accounts Innovation Fund, via Sport Ireland; the HSE and County Carlow Sports Partnership. A research team from South East Technological University (SETU), under the leadership of Prof. Michael Harrison, was awarded the tender to develop this framework. The framework document will be launched on 7th February (11.00am). Registration for the webinar is now open at the following link: https://lnkd.in/eab4ynWm A panel discussion will be a central part of the event, focusing particularly on critical next steps to implement, manage and govern the framework.

Professional conference organisers, I am coming for you! 🫵 I’m on my way to the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) Glasgow for the ABPCO Festival of Learning to speak about our Inclusive Event Design Playbook. 🤩 ICYMI, in November we launched our Playbook after a year of intensive training and research, to give corporate #eventprofs the support and resources they need to improve accessibility and inclusion at events. 👏 I’ll be talking about what inspired me to develop the Playbook, how to turn past mistakes into opportunities, and share some easy to implement solutions that can be put into action straight away. 🚀 If you can’t wait till tomorrow to find out more, you can download your own copy of the Playbook via the link in the comments. 🙌

The Connect Rail conference in Sydney is up and running. Thanks to conference organiser Informa going with the times I am able to attend virtually and even present tomorrow noon Sydney time on "Australia's CBTC History". Sounds more boring than it is, as attendees of my talk will find out tomorrow. The approaches to CBTC has been quite different in the three initiatives that Australia has to date and offer lessons to be learned regardless whether you are from Australia or anywhere else. A couple of "trivia facts" about CBTC in Australia that you may not have heard of (and that I will NOT talk about tomorrow for obvious reasons) are the following: * The longest-running CBTC training in the world is "Made in Australia". It launched in late 2014 under the name "CBTC Kickstarter" (because it has kickstarted quite a few careers in CBTC by now). These days it has transformed to the arguably most comprehensive online training on CBTC out there, now called "Understanding CBTC Fundamentals". And it still is suitable for anyone and everyone, without requiring lots of signalling knowledge before the training. Info here: https://lnkd.in/guNDw9zf * The world's first global virtual CBTC conference was organised and hosted from Australia. The "CBTC World Summit" featured three sessions of six one-hour presentation slots, one each from Asia-Pacific, North/South America and Europe & Middle East. 18 expert speakers from 13 different nations made it a truly global event. The recording of that landmark conference including all Q&A sessions and three "VIP fireside chats" is still available at a fraction of the cost of other conferences here: https://lnkd.in/gWQ9u7xa For anyone seriously interested or just curious about CBTC, those are two of the best addresses for learning (much) more. #cbtc #onlinetraining #global #conference #docfrankrailservices
