The cleanest, cheapest, and most reliable source of energy is the energy that countries can avoid using, while still providing full energy services to citizens and businesses. This is how the International Energy Agency (IEA) defines energy efficiency, and I completely agree with this approach. Achieving energy efficiency through various available technologies is the first and most crucial measure to incentivize and implement on a large scale. Without urgent actions on efficiency, the energy transition to net zero emissions will be significantly more challenging to achieve.
