Bedrock Ocean Exploration is making waves at the US Navy's Advanced Naval Technology Exercise (ANTX) this month! Their mission is to redesign the marine survey experience by paving the way for detailed mapping and interpretation of seafloor data. They've engineered a new generation of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) to support ocean-based renewable energy infrastructure, seaport construction, and other maritime R&D projects. Bedrock uses Epsilon3 to manage integration, field testing, and system checks for its electric AUVs. Thanks to Charles Chiau and his team for providing this photo and trusting Epsilon3 to help drive mission success! P.S. Like most robot and drone operators, they use a video game controller to operate their fleet.

We would like to thank Avangrid for the invitation to demonstrate the world's fastest Group 2 multicopter, the SIC6, at their solar and wind facility in Bickleton, WA last week (driving from our home City of Portland, we were lucky to get through a massive fire on the way out there!). Members of the Avangrid drone flight teams had some insightful questions and feedback during the demo, and a few Avangrid personnel volunteered to jump on the sticks and fly it! Our USA-manufactured aircraft are second to none when it comes to flight capability and wind resistance as a 100% NDAA-compliant UAS with an IP67 rating. SICDRONE aircraft will be providing energy companies like Avangrid with a valuable time and cost-saving aerial asset at their solar and onshore/offshore wind farms such as Vineyard Wind to monitor construction and sea life while also supporting the operations of the farms with transportation, security, and inspections...saving $millions over the lifetime of the farms and serving as a dual use asset for the US Navy and U.S. Coast Guard. It's been an honor for SICDRONE to have partnered and contributed over $100K towards projects involving UAS research/leasing, development, and onshore/offshore energy asset and endangered whale/sea life monitoring with amazing companies like Vineyard Wind and their parent companys Avangrid, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, and Iberdrola / Iberdrola Renewables. #cleanenergy #uas #drones #offshorewind #usamanufacturing #firstresponders #energy #usnavy #uscg #endangeredanimals

#throwbackthursday 🔥🔥🔥 FIREDRONE 🔥🔥🔥 This time last year we handed over FIREDRONE at the Eden Project. You've heard the Consortiq team call themselves drone enablers... this is what they mean.. ☄️Fire drone was the development of a robotic system for live monitoring of fires that analyses the particles in the smoke. 🎓Working with the University of Southampton on the airframe, Interreg VA France (Channel) England, and INSA on the sensor and software behind it, the Consortiq team spent two years bringing these technologies together to conduct live flight trials at the fire service college. 🔥This is a project the team loved... it's not everyday you get to set things on fire so you can fly a drone through the smoke! 🌋The potential of this technology is huge, from monitoring chemical fire composition for harmful emissions, to analysing the elements in a volcanic ash cloud to determine their impact on aircraft engines (and therefore whether we need to close airspace or not). 🛟We are proud of what our team and partners accomplished with Project FIREDRONE. As with all our work, the goal is to enhance safety, reduce the frequency of risk to life, and advance the responsible development of drone and airspace technologies.

DARPA has announced the successful initial testing of the Manta Ray, a large underwater drone designed for extended autonomous operations in the ocean, off the coast of California. The drone, significantly larger than a small lifeboat, demonstrated various propulsion and steering modes. The Manta Ray project, now in its fifth year, aims to utilize ocean movements to power the drone, allowing it to operate far longer than existing undersea drones, with potential applications such as tracking foreign submarines. This development is part of a broader trend toward creating long-range, autonomous, fuel-independent submersible drones, a field in which other nations, including Russia with its nuclear-powered Poseidon drone, are also active. DARPA's Manta Ray, however, focuses on leveraging renewable ocean energy, avoiding nuclear power, and balancing endurance with payload capacity, as highlighted in discussions by DARPA program manager Kyle Woerner and Sandia National Laboratories engineer Kelley Ruehl. #mantaray #darpainnovation #underwaterdrone #oceanenergy #autonomousvehicles #submarinedrones #militarytechnology #renewableenergy #oceantechnology #usdefense Source- https://lnkd.in/guhWB5Yh

Exail’s new transoceanic Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV), DriX O-16, was launched and tested at sea, and demonstrated to high-profile customers and partners, including major worldwide hydrographic institutes and navies. Unveiled last March at Oceanology International in London, the DriX O-16 was first put to sea on Wednesday, May 29th in its home port of La Ciotat (South of France). After undergoing a first series of sea trials within the next couple of days, it was showcased in action to selected partners and customers on Wednesday, June 5th. Twice the length and five times the displacement of the legacy DriX H-8, the latest addition to Exail’s USV product line, DriX O-16, is designed for long-duration operations of up to 30 days. It benefits from an autonomy of 3,500 nm and can deploy multiple payloads and subsea assets. Its larger size allows for a wide range of payloads, including Multibeam Echosounders (MBES), Sub-Bottom Profilers (SBP), and acoustic subsea positioning and communication systems (USBL). Additionally, the USV features a launch and recovery system to deploy Remotely Operated Towed Vehicles (ROTVs), inspection-class Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). The new transoceanic USV is particularly suited for full ocean depth scientific and hydrographic surveys, geophysical and UXO surveys, and subsea infrastructure inspections, which may require the deployment of multiple robots. #military #defense #defence #militaryleak https://lnkd.in/gsMxsNkw

French high-tech firm Exail has carried out the first sea trials of an uncrewed surface vessel it launched at this year’s Oceanology show. DriX O-16 is the latest addition to Exail’s USV range, and was designed for long-duration operations of up to 30 days. It can be autonomous for 3,500nm, using multiple payloads and other subsea assets and is larger than its previous vessel – being twice the length and five times the displacement. Because of its size it can carry Multibeam Echsounders, Sub-Bottom Profilers, acoustic subsea positioning and communications systems and a launch and recovery system to deploy remotely operated towed vehicles, inspection-class ROVs and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). “The new transoceanic USV is particularly suited for full ocean depth scientific and hydrographic surveys. geophysical and UXO surveys and subsea infrastructure inspections, which may require the deployment of multiple robots,” says Exail, which was formed in 2022 with a merger of ECA Group and iXblue. The vessel was put to sea off the port of La Ciotat, in the South of France. Keep up to date with the latest industry news on Maritime Journal ; https://lnkd.in/eJSXH8yC
