In today's technological world, the importance of health promotion and education cannot be overemphasized. Lifestyle being one of the key determinants of health plays a crucial role in shaping our life. In our recent online session on the Health Literacy and Leadership Program coordinated by the West African Institute of Public Health. We were privileged to be taken through by experts in the field of health promotion; in which we were taught about the key component of health literacy in healthcare settings and how patients need to have control over their health. It is stated that, 29% of patients are likely to be hospitalized if they have limited health literacy skills. One of the key methods in increasing patient knowledge is by adopting the teach-back method; which helps in improving patient understanding and as well improve their satisfaction and outcome. It was further discussed that, patients' access to medical records and involvement in decision-making help reduce fear and uncertainty by increasing patient knowledge about their health. #Healthliteracy #HLLP #YPPH

It was wonderful to see so many people curious and engaged in practical ways to deliver primary care that is trauma-informed and culturally-responsive. Just completed an Implementation Research course, created by the Dalla Lana School of Public Health in collaboration with Public Health Training for Equitable Systems Change (PHESC) and it's been enlightening. We delved into how IR brings theory into practice, bridging the gap between research and real-world impact. A significant aspect was the Theory of Change (ToC), which serves as a guiding light, ensuring clarity and stakeholder alignment throughout the research process. The course underscored the importance of equity-focused research, emphasizing the need to ensure fair access to healthcare resources for all. Additionally, we explored strategies for scaling up interventions, considering sustainability and equity implications. #learning #certification #research

As state leaders continue to invest #publichealth infrastructure grants and work toward a public health system that is robust, interconnected, and capable of promoting the health of all communities, partnerships between public health and the health care system will continue to play an important role.
