📣 SAVE THE DATE! The 2024 #EOOS Technology Forum “Catching the momentum in ocean observing technology: optimising value and data provision” will take place on 13 March 2024 at the Oceanology International, Excel, London (09:45-17:45 UTC). The 2024 edition is an activity of the UN Ocean Decade of the Ocean for Sustainable Development. #OceanScience #Oi24 #OceanologyInternational To increase the value and sustainability of ocean observing platforms and systems, observers have turned their attention toward technologies that can deliver data from greater coverage at effective cost. The European Ocean Observing System (#EOOS) is the infrastructure, platforms, sensors and people that gather the required data and information about Europe’s ocean, seas and coastal waters. The 2024 EOOS Technology Forum will bring together technology developers, manufacturers and users to exchange knowledge on platforms and sensors of all types, costs and levels of technical sophistication with the goal to enhance accessibility of ocean observations. Key technological issues such as ease of maintenance, evolution and adaptation, ease of deployment and sustainability, will be discussed. The event will identify and promote emerging synergies in the technology community to advance the optimisation of ocean observing in Europe and worldwide. This workshop is organised by EuroGOOS, European Global Ocean Observing System with the support of JERICO-RI European Infrastructure, Ifremer, OGS and SMHI. ✍ Sign up for the #EOOS Technology Forum using this link: https://lnkd.in/e7hUMDE5

🚀 EvoLand takes a major step forward! On June 14, 2024, EvoLand held a Stakeholder Consultation and Prototype Demonstration event in Brussels, accessible online. This exclusive event showcased our 11 innovative prototypes for the Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS), providing a platform for key stakeholders to offer their invaluable feedback. 💡 Attendees received comprehensive updates on each prototype, including their objectives, methodologies, status, and planned enhancements. This dynamic exchange allowed for an in-depth discussion on user needs, shaping the future direction of these tools. 🌍 By maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders, the project ensures that the final products will be robust, responsive, and tailored to the needs of both current and potential CLMS users. The feedback gathered during this event is crucial as EvoLand transitions into its second development phase. ⏩ Looking ahead as EvoLand moves forward, the project will continue to refine its prototypes based on stakeholder insights. A publicly available results portal is set to launch by the end of October 2025. 🔍 For more details and to explore the first development phase results, visit: https://lnkd.in/dtnYawC8 #LandMonitoring #Innovation #EvoLand #EvoLand #Sustainability #CLMS #RemoteSensing #MachineLearning #OpenSource #GeospatialTech #EarthObservation Copernicus EEA European Environment Agency European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) Evenflow VITO Remote Sensing GAF AG CLS Group (Collecte Localisation Satellites) CESBIO German Aerospace Center (DLR) Sinergise International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) JOANNEUM RESEARCH Centre National d'Études Spatiales

🌊🛰️ Last week, AIR Centre - Atlantic International Research Centre showcased innovative #MarineDebris Detection at Conferência Terra em Foco! A biennial Earth Observation conference, held at the Universidade do Minho in Braga, Portugal, from September 12-13, that gathered +200 participants, from academia to industry. We had the privilege to present our cutting-edge research on satellite detection of marine debris. POS2IDON is an open-source data pipeline that leverages satellite imagery and advanced machine learning algorithms to: 📍 Identify marine debris hotspots 🔮 Predict accumulation zones of marine debris, particularly macroplastics 📊 Generate quick analyses and reports for researchers and decision-makers The tool is being tested in the framework of the EU-funded LabPlas H2020 Project. A big thank you to the Universidade do Minho for hosting this impactful event, and to all the attendees who showed interest in our work. Together, we're making strides towards healthier oceans and a more sustainable future.
