🌍 This week is filled with exciting events! 📌 Today marks the start of the Annual Meeting of the North West Shelf Operational Oceanographic System (#NOOS) in Copenhagen. The NOOS community will be presenting its 2030 strategy, discussing cooperation with the Baltic Operational Oceanographic System #BOOS, and engaging with the #EuroGOOS expert community. We'll also hear about the national developments of NOOS members and Pan-European projects and initiatives. 💡 On the last day, they will host the second edition of the AMRIT_EU Advance Marine Research Infrastructures Together Project Workshop. These workshops are designed for operators, PIs, implementers, and users to share valuable input for the design and development of #EOOS services and tools. 🌊 The 8th edition of the Ocean Best Practices System Workshop (#OBPS WSVIII) begins today, fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue in #operationaloceanography by promoting best practices across science and technology. Three of our European projects will be contributing to several key sessions: 🔷 BioEcoOcean will participate in special sessions to connect communities involved in Biology and Ecosystem (BioEco) ocean observation and forecasting, promoting collaboration and the exchange of ideas and best practices. 🔷 AMRIT_EU Advance Marine Research Infrastructures Together: During the session "AMRIT and OBPS Collaboration Brainstorming", they will explore potential collaboration opportunities between the project and OBPS communities. 🔷 Blue-Cloud 2026 will host a workshop session on October 17th, presenting the Blue-Cloud Data-intensive Workbenches for Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs), developed with marine data providers like #SeaDataNet, #EMODnetChemistry, #CMEMS, and #EcoTaxa. 📺 Follow the workshop on YouTube! https://lnkd.in/ernVEGNA

About us
European Global Ocean Observing System, EuroGOOS, identifies priorities, enhances cooperation and promotes the benefits of operational oceanography to ensure sustained observations are made in Europe’s seas underpinning a suite of fit-for-purpose products and services for marine and maritime end-users. EuroGOOS is the European component of the Global Ocean Observing System of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC GOOS). EuroGOOS is registered as an international non-profit association under Belgian law (EuroGOOS AISBL) and its Secretariat is located in Brussels. Today, EuroGOOS brings together 42 members from 19 European countries providing operational oceanographic services and carrying out marine research. In addition, EuroGOOS coordinates five regional operational systems in Europe: in the Arctic (Arctic ROOS), the Baltic (BOOS), the European North-West Shelf (NOOS) and the Ireland-Biscay-Iberian area (IBI-ROOS), as well as the Mediterranean (MONGOOS). Strong cooperation within these regions enables the involvement of many more partners and countries. This forms the basis of the EuroGOOS work and is combined with high-level representation at European and global forums. EuroGOOS working groups and networks of marine observing platforms (task teams) deliver strategies, priorities and standards towards an integrated, sustained and fit-for-purpose European Ocean Observing System (EOOS).

🚀 Excited to share our latest video spotlighting key advancements in the Land-Ocean Continuum! 🌍 📌 Work Package 4 (WP4), led by SMHI, focuses on refining land-ocean model interfaces. By enhancing the E-HYPE model, calibrating river flows, and improving estuary mixing processes, WP4 is paving the way for more accurate coastal modeling across European basins. 📌 Work Package 5 (WP5), led by CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici, builds on WP4’s progress to validate and demonstrate these improvements. By testing enhanced hydrological models and integrating EMODnet near-real-time data, WP5 is pushing forward model-based monitoring and forecasting for the Copernicus Marine Service. 🌊 Explore the details and see how the #FOCCUS project is advancing sustainable coastal management! 🎥 https://lnkd.in/eMJ_pWZq Copernicus Marine Service Mercator Ocean International +ATLANTIC Brockmann Consult GmbH CLS Group (Collecte Localisation Satellites) CMCC Foundation - Centro Euro Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche Stichting Deltares EuroGOOS, European Global Ocean Observing System INSTITUT FRANCAIS DE RECHERCHE POUR L'EXPLOITATION DE LA MER - IFREMER Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon SOCIB SHOM Seascape Belgium Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) #CoastalModeling #LandOceanContinuum #HydrologicalModels #EMODnet #CopernicusMarineService #OceanObservation #Sustainability

📌 The Mediterranean Operational Network for the Global Ocean Observing System (#MonGOOS) community, is meeting in Málaga (Spain) from October 1st to 3rd for their Annual Meeting and Workshop, kindly hosted by the Spanish partner Instituto Español de Oceanografía. 🌞 #MonGOOS, as part of the implementation of the UN Ocean Decade, focuses on enhancing and promoting operational oceanographic services in the #Mediterranean. The network consists of three key working groups—Observation, Modeling, and Application—each driving activities in these key areas. The observation infrastructures play a vital role in coastal monitoring systems, with direct impact on the surveillance of large regional areas. This integrated, cross-platform monitoring system is recognized as essential for advancing a sustainable #BlueEconomy in the Mediterranean. 🌊 🐟 Yesterday, an insightful session was held to enhance understanding of the Mediterranean’s adaptation to climate change and extreme events, with a focus on fisheries and conservation perspectives. The discussion explored valuable insights for fostering stronger connections between ocean observation systems and fisheries management efforts. ☑ Today also marked the first workshop of the AMRIT_EU Advance Marine Research Infrastructures Together Project, gathering operators, principal investigators, implementers, and users to provide input on the design and development of #EOOS services and tools, including priorities for network integration. These regionally tailored workshops are held in parallel with the annual meetings of all EuroGOOS regions (#ArcticROOS, #BOOS, #IBIROOS, #NOOS). The next workshop will be held in Copenhagen during the 2024 NOOS Annual Meeting: https://lnkd.in/eiHVy-2Q Big thanks to the Chair Vanessa Cardin for bringing together the Mediterranean community! 🤝
