In an effort to bolster its standing in the future #electrolysis market, thyssenkrupp nucera is strengthening its technology portfolio with high-temperature electrolysis (SOEC) technology of the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS, with which it has entered into a strategic partnership. For over 20 years, the research institute has conducted extensive research and development in Solid Oxide #Electrolyzer Cell (SOEC) technology, laying the groundwork for its industrialization. Together, thyssenkrupp nucera and Fraunhofer IKTS aim to advance high-temperature electrolysis (SOEC) towards industrial manufacturing and application. By the first quarter of 2025, a pilot plant designed and constructed by Fraunhofer IKTS is scheduled to commence operations. This facility will manufacture high-temperature electrolysis #stacks with SOE #cells – the core components of SOEC stacks, initially in limited quantities. The strategic partnership also grants thyssenkrupp nucera a license to produce and use CFY stacks, leveraging Fraunhofer IKTS’s SOEC technology.

🌍 Reflecting on hy-fcell – International Expo and Conference – A Successful Event for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Innovation We are excited to look back at hy-fcell – International Expo and Conference 2024 in Stuttgart, one of the leading international trade fairs for hydrogen and fuel cell technology! As the CEO of IFA Technology GmbH, I had the privilege to present on a key topic for the industry: Challenges and innovative solutions in the industrial mixing of catalyst inks for fuel cells. IFA Technology GmbH is project partner of Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE since 2022, and actively involved in developing cutting-edge solutions for the MEA catalyst coating process. Our Trial Mixing Unit, currently under construction, is set to establish new standards in the industrial production of catalyst inks. Key Takeaways from the Event: ● Handling complex raw materials like nano-particles, flammable, and explosive substances ● Reducing waste and minimizing cleaning efforts to ensure cost efficiency in catalyst use ● Achieving homogeneous mixtures with proper distribution to avoid agglomerates and optimize catalyst performance ● Managing the variation in viscosities and material properties for different coating applications We thank everyone who joined us at the event and look forward to continuing to drive innovation in the hydrogen industry! Speakers (f.l.t.r.): Dr. Zohreh Kiaee (Fraunhofer ISE), Dr. Christopher Giehl (Anton Paar), Stefan Neumann (IFA Technology), Prof. Jasna Jankovic (UCONN) #hyfcell #IFATechnology #FuelCells #Hydrogen #CatalystInk #Innovation #FraunhoferISE #MEA #MixingTechnology #Sustainability #EnergyTransition
