As the European Parliament prepares to vote on the Waste Framework Directive we call on policymakers to support the role of social enterprises in the collection and management of used and waste #textiles. We ask MEPs to uphold the European Commission’s provisions (improved by the European Parliament's ENVI committee) regarding the involvement of social enterprises in the reuse and preparing for #reuse of textiles. Learn more in our joint letter, signed by over 80 organisations – we call on policy makers to unlock the potential of social economy and make the #GreenTransition a just one. 👕 Local reuse of clothes should be favoured to minimise transportation and prevent shipment of unsorted textile #waste outside of the EU. 💶 Extended Producer Responsibility fees should cover all waste management costs, including collection, sorting, preparation for reuse, and reuse activities.
