As the European Parliament prepares to vote on the Waste Framework Directive we call on policymakers to support the role of social enterprises in the collection and management of used and waste #textiles. We ask MEPs to uphold the European Commission’s provisions (improved by the European Parliament's ENVI committee) regarding the involvement of social enterprises in the reuse and preparing for #reuse of textiles. The Circular Economy is recognised as a source of new growth for #southafrica through sustainable resource management. Furthermore, the waste sector is seen as an important contributor that provides socio-economic opportunities for the country through waste prevention and the diversion of waste away from landfill towards value recovery. This is one of the initiatives by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) that seek to support industries in the process of mapping opportunities for #resourcerecovery and #wastetovalue
