From coast to coast and across continents, our team has been actively participating in some of the most prestigious agricultural events worldwide. 🌱 We kicked off the week at the BioAGTech World Congress 2024 in Raleigh, US, where we delved into the latest innovations shaping the future of agriculture. 🍌 Next stop was the Conferencia Acorbat 2024 in Mérida, México, where we engaged with industry leaders and exchanged insights on sustainable farming practices. One of the highlights is the selection of our research study titled: "Effect of foliar fertilization inclusion within phytosanitary management on banana yield parameters in Ecuador (2020 - 2023)" for presentation as a poster at the prestigious banana event. 🚜 Wrapping up our whirlwind tour, we joined the XIX REUNION RUENA Red de Uso Eficiente del Nitrógeno en Agricultura in Zaragoza, Spain, where we explored strategies for maximizing nitrogen efficiency in agriculture. Register at https://lnkd.in/ecBUBU6x In 2012, I stepped into the fascinating world of #rhizobia by doing an internship at the John Innes Centre. Back then, I had little knowledge about these special bacteria that can be used as an alternative to chemical nitrogen fertilisers in #legume crop systems. I was certain of one thing: #sustainable #agriculture wasn’t a one-solution game. Like nature, we needed to combine and synergise different #AgriTech research approaches to truly revolutionise our agricultural systems. This curiosity led me to pursue a PhD, where I explored deeper into the symbiotic relationship between rhizobia and legumes to develop effective rhizobial biofertilisers. Fast forward to 2024, my focus as a #researcher at Molecular Biology & Genetics - Aarhus University and as #entrepreneur at SymbioMatch is on developing customised #rhizobial #biofertilisers. But my interests aren’t confined to rhizobia. I’m a strong believer in interdisciplinary science. That’s why I’m thrilled to be part of N2CROP, where we combine plant genetics, agronomics, crop modelling, and molecular nutrition. Thanks to the generous DKK 60 million grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, N2CROP is set to use legume symbiotic nitrogen fixation to produce high-quality, nutritious plant protein in sustainable agri-food systems. 🌱 In his presentation, “Case Examples of the Benefits of Public-Private Partnerships”, Johan Van Huylenbroeck, Scientific Director of the Plant Science Unit at ILVO (Instituut voor Landbouw, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek), highlighted how these collaborations drive agricultural innovation: 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭: 𝗦𝗼𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 🌍 Europe’s over-reliance on imported protein-rich crops led to local soybean breeding starting in 2010. This effort has resulted in Protealis, a spin-off from VIB and ILVO, focusing on innovative breeding technologies and seed coatings to address local soil and climate needs. 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟮: 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗿𝘆 🌿 ILVO's work since 1990 on chicory has enhanced inulin yield, fiber length, and disease resistance. Recent advancements include hybrid breeding for a 20% yield increase and the use of molecular technology and drones for phenotyping. The theme of the event was 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 with the help of 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, using the innovative 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲 application. This system enables optimized and precise fertigation management for industrial tomatoes, maximizing efficiency and minimizing wasted resources.
