Innovation thrives beyond the confines of your desk. When life seems to spin in cycles and you find yourself stuck in the same spot, stepping out for a breath of fresh air can reignite your energy and creativity to tackle new challenges. This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the MAIF So Good Festival for the first time. I participated in an inspiring solar masterclass with NADIA SAMMUT, where I met the innovative team Solar Brother and discovered the art of solar cooking. Cooking a gluten-free and vegan meal with Nadia, who is celiac, was a heavenly experience. Michaël Jérémiasz brought humor and insight as he shared his experiences with disability, teaching us that it's okay to joke, as long as it's done with skill and sensitivity. Swann Perissé also uses humor to provoke changes, making complex topics more approachable and engaging for everyone. I was captivated by the discussions with Paloma Moritz and Jean-Pierre Goux, who shared their vision for a positive future. They highlighted countless existing solutions that often go unnoticed. Jean-Pierre's work in fostering optimism and envisioning positive futures is truly enlightening. We should vibrate with good energy and illuminate the path ahead. On my free time, with DevelopClarity, I plant seeds for employees and students to learn how to develop this mindset. Have you ever tried taking a sheet of paper and writing about a future event as if everything you desired was possible? This exercise hacks the brain’s negative bias, helping us prepare not for the worst, but for the best possible outcomes. And in doing so, endless possibilities begin to emerge. We boast about how far we've come as a #society how we’ve connected the world through the internet, revolutionized transportation, and developed sophisticated tools that make life easier. But for whom? The food store owner in this image is a poignant symbol of the #illusion of progress. She is surrounded by the very essence of sustenance fresh fruits and vegetables yet she struggles to afford what she sells. While innovations abound in other sectors, her daily reality remains a fight for #survival. We’ve created technologies that allow us to communicate across continents in an instant, yet this same world struggles to ensure that everyone has access to basic necessities like food. We marvel at the innovations in agriculture that increase yields, yet the fruits of these #advancements often fail to reach those who need them most. This is not to diminish the importance of technological progress, but rather to question its direction. If our innovations don't address the most pressing needs like ensuring that every person has enough to eat then what are we truly advancing? The truth is, many of the so-called "innovations" we celebrate are disconnected from the realities of people like this food store owner. They serve as a reminder that progress is not just about creating something new, but about creating something meaningful. This is not just a story about one person; it's a reflection of a larger issue. The innovation ecosystem, in its current form, often fails to prioritize the needs of those who are most #vulnerable. As we prepare to discuss our achievements since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) in 2012, the question arises: Is 2030 a logical deadline for achieving these goals? What have we truly accomplished in the years since 2012, and are we on the right track?
