📝Novel topological properties of matter emerge from an ultra-cold atom-cavity system In the recent study published in Physical Review Letters, ICFO researcher Joana Fraxanet, led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Maciej Lewenstein, in collaboration with Daniel González Cuadra from Institut für Quantenoptik und Quanteninformation (IQOQI) in Innsbruck, Alexandre Dauphin from PASQAL and Luca Barbiero from Politecnico di Torino, report on a readily available experimental protocol to induce symmetry-protected higher-order topology through a spontaneous symmetry-breaking mechanism in an atom-cavity system. Regulation and the Rule of Law are one of the great pillars of commerce and especially Space Commerce. The hardest thing about getting to space is getting permission. Space is the most regulated of all human activities. The ITU Radio Regulations, alongside the UN Outer Space Treaty, are key. Changes here directly impact Space Commerce. This is crucial information for those already working in space and for those thinking of doing so too.

Professor Ioni Lewis, Principal Research Fellow at QUT (Queensland University of Technology)'s CARRS-Q, is presenting a session at the iMOVE National R&D conference entitled, "Messaging and Technology: A most powerful partnership to enhance road safety". SESSION DESCRIPTION This presentation is an overview the important role that messaging and technology each play in optimising the effects of one another in the #roadsafety context. With advances in roadside technology enabling real-time messaging to road users, the opportunity to target messaging to influence on-road behaviour is greater than what has been possible in the past. While, in the case of advancing vehicle technology, messaging plays a crucial role in helping to raise public awareness of such technology, the role it will play in road safety, as well as enhancing the likely uptake of it into the future. EVENT DETAILS The iMOVE National R&D conference is taking place in Brisbane, on 23 and 24 October 2024. For more information on the conference, and to register, visit: https://lnkd.in/gKuRz-ub

Happy Monday LinkedIn... - Do you sit in panel discussions at conferences with a valuable question or topic that you run out of time to ask? - Are you bored of hearing each panellist give a 5 minute corporate introduction full of pre-rehearsed sound bites that leaves less time for an actual discussion? - Do you find pre-scripted and pre-arranged questions less relevant to the topic of the panel? We want to change that. I'm working with RX Global and Oceanology International and will be hosting a series of expert panel sessions at the Excel next week. These will be 100% audience-led, with no corporate introductions, and the only topic that matters is how we can improve our industry. We can take the discussion in any direction we want. Discussions will be interactive, with the ability to pivot to interesting or controversial topics brought up by the audience, or those taking part on stage, in an effort to have a frank and worthwhile conversation about how we can all work to improve our industry. We all know things need to change, so let's start the conversation. I'm being joined across the three days by a great group of panellists to discuss your questions and offer their views: Rachael Burden (XOCEAN), Alex Searle (G5 Geoconsulting), Andrew Kirkland (Corio Generation), Andrew Deeks (bp), Chelsea Bradbury (The Crown Estate), Will Hodshon (Vysus Group), Dan Morgan (Scottish Power), Jennie Morgan (Seaway7), Phil Payne (National Grid), Marc Richards (Moray West), Ben Hooker (Oceaneering), Francesca Ghigi (N-Sea), Gareth Ellery (Global Maritime), Will Rowley (Offshore Solutions Group), and Chris Almond (Kraken Robotics) Here's the links to the Oceanology website with details. All sessions take place in the Ocean Futures Theatre on the exhibition floor. 12th March, 12.45: Session 1 - Site selection & development (https://lnkd.in/eiW759Zx) 13th March, 10.15: Session 2 - Construction & commissioning (https://lnkd.in/eBxjA7p8) 14th March, 10.15: Session 3 - Long term operations (https://lnkd.in/eN6MpzZY) #oceanologyinternational #paneldiscussion #different #netzero #joinus
