Uncut CEO Episode #1 - Are investor updates necessary and what is a good format to write these emails? In short, hell yes. At the end of every quarter, Caleb Frankel and I write up two different emails for EarlyBird: 1. Internal Investor Update Email - This is more focused on the health of the business and a holistic picture of where we stand. 2. Keep Warm Investor Update Email - This is to every VC we have ever pitched that went well (now more than 250...). This email is much more focused on highlights and traction throughout the previous quarter. LEAN IN A LITTLE! This episode we dig into our Q1 Keep Warm Investor Email update that we just sent out last week on May 1st. Shoutout to Cabal for being a phenomenal tool for this process as this platform really keeps us stay organized and allows Caleb and I to seamlessly collaborate. Highly recommend it! See you on Wednesday, May 8th!

Love this! Couple other thoughts I'd share here since 3 min is super short. 1. Investor updates are also a moment for you to reframe your business in the minds of someone else's perspective that is evaluating you. What are the questions they'd ask? What do they really want to know? What doesn't matter to them? 2. People often say and have guided us that "shorter is better." Sure, but not at the expense of telling a good story. Always strive for brevity and clarity, but more important is the evolution of your story and your ability to demonstrate traction. Investors are waiting to see your "aha" moments and need to be brought along the journey. 3. We put a lot of thought of when we send our investor updates. Do we have something that is coming up that we want high engagement around? Do we want to build anticipation? Will this open the door for important conversations or make critical asks?

I love the idea of the keep warm list. Never really thought about that. So smart to keep sending them updates even if they passed on prior rounds. "No" meaans "not now," not "not ever." Solid post, J!

It's always worth it to spend a LITTLE extra time here!
