🇳🇦 📣 From South Africa our 'Road to Namibia' campaign took us back to Namibia where we hosted the hugely successful international press conference for this year's trailblazing Global African Hydrogen Summit [3 - 5 September, 2024 | Windhoek, Namibia]. 🤝 dmg events and our partners Vasco Da Gama Energy would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Hon. Tom Alweendo, Minister of Mines & Energy, Nangula Nelulu Uaandja, CEO, Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and James Mnyupe, CA(SA)(Nam), CFA, CFP, Green Hydrogen Commissioner for their highly valued contribution and unwavering support. 📣📑 “Hydrogen is the most common molecule in the universe. If we can harness it to be carbon free and power our world, it sounds like a solution worth pursuing. It is not a silver bullet but it has the potential as a low-carbon solution within the global energy mix to: provide energy security, heat, cool and power homes, be used as a clean source of cooking fuel, decarbonise hard to abate heavy industries including cement, steel, transportation and mobility fuels. Africa holds the key to decarbonising the global energy system and can become a leading player in hydrogen made from renewables. But Africa cannot do it alone. There are many challenges including financing, investment, infrastructure development, policy, regulation, standards, technology, demand generation and a fragmented financial market to trade. It requires everyone. Partnerships and Collaboration are the only way that we will drive progress. The Global African Hydrogen Summit has therefore been born out of a deep necessity (at the highest level) to solve for these challenges by convening heads of state, ministers, government agencies, developers, investors, technologists and end users to facilitate collaboration, broker financial deal and project closure and shape policy. More than a world class G2B and B2B event, the Global African Hydrogen Summit is a movement that is committed to turning ambition into action to invest today in Africa’s energy of tomorrow." As day 1 of the Global African Hydrogen Summit comes to an end, here is my quick take regarding Namibia that I opt to share with you: 💡💡Economies of scale is one of Namibia’s greatest roadblocks to industrialization - particularly the growth of the green hydrogen industry, being the “elephant in the room” at this Summit. Building regional and global connections to access bigger markets will aid Namibia to NOT ONLY speed up Namibia’s industrialization, BUT to ALSO allow the country to produce hydrogen in larger quantities - at lower costs. For this, Namibia is a step ahead for already being a member of the Africa Free Continental Trade Area. Hence, strenghtening bilateral relationships with potential offtakers in Africa and abroad such as the EU and Japan through mutually beneficial offtake agreements at such early stages, will surely add value to the hydrogen industry’s growth. Namibia, through the Ministry of Mines and Energy - NAMIBIA ready to look at what these offtake agreements entails for the country - me too 🙋♀️! 🤓🤩 Explore the full agenda here to see what's coming up next 👉 https://lnkd.in/dEZGk7sN 💡💡 Global African Hydrogen Summit Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia Tom Alweendo Africa Hydrogen Hub (AHH) HYPHEN Hydrogen Energy Daures Green Hydrogen Village Hydrogen Europe Research Namibia Green Hydrogen Research Institute (NGHRI) Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) Electricity Control Board Women In Green Hydrogen #GAH2S #GlobalAfricanHydrogenSummit #Hydrogen #Namibia #AfricaHydrogen #NamibiaHydrogen #GlobalPartnerships #InternationalExhibition #HydrogenConference #HydrogenSummit #GreenHydrogenNamibia

Renewable Energy, Storage and Hydrogen Solutions / Impact project in Africa in RE and Koegas Green Hydrogen Project
Recently, the Netherlands Embassy and Consulate in South Africa, alongside Dutch agencies and industry companies🇳🇱 , including RESH2, attended the inaugural African Hydrogen Summit. The summit aimed to explore projects in Namibia, emphasising Africa’s growing role in the green hydrogen economy and fostering international collaboration and new investments. RESH2 proudly introduced our KOEGAS GREEN HYDROGEN PROJECT in the Northern Cape of South Africa, showcasing our commitment as a Dutch company to advancing sustainable energy solutions in collaboration with South Africa’s Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) and the Northern Cape Economic Development, Trade, and Investment Promotion Agency (NCEDA). The Netherlands with its strategic location, advanced energy infrastructure, and strong port network, plays a vital role in hydrogen production, import, and distribution across Europe. The Dutch government is a key supporter of hydrogen innovation, actively promoting it through forward-thinking policies, research initiatives, and collaborations with industry leaders. This commitment is crucial for advancing green hydrogen projects and driving decarbonisation in critical sectors like transportation and heavy industry. In 2023, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and King Willem-Alexander visited South Africa to bolster the Netherlands' green hydrogen agenda. Their visit focused on strengthening economic ties and exploring collaborative opportunities for hydrogen production, leveraging South Africa’s renewable energy potential. This diplomatic engagement underscored the importance of joint efforts in the global energy transition and highlighted the central role of hydrogen in decarbonising industries and promoting sustainable development. My appreciation to Netherlands Embassy and Consulate in South Africa, Oost NL, Invest International, Climate Fund Managers (CFM), Impact Hydrogen for your support. The potential of green hydrogen to revolutionize Namibia's economy is becoming increasingly evident, positioning the country as a key figure in the global energy market. This development emphasizes the crucial role of sustainable energy solutions and their transformative impact on both national and regional economies. It is fitting, therefore, that Namibia will host the Global African Hydrogen Summit 2024 from 3-5 September. Hosted by the Government of Namibia and endorsed by the Ministry of Mines & Energy of Namibia, this event will bring together industry leaders and policymakers under the theme of "From Ambition to Action: Fuelling Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution." His Excellency Nangolo Mbumba, President of the Republic of Namibia, recently stated, "As we look to host the Global African Hydrogen Summit, we shall look to not only showcase what Namibia has delivered in terms of our green hydrogen ecosystem, but also the efforts of our peer nations on the continent."
