💚 #AccelerateAction for Gender Equality 💚 The hydrogen sector thrives on innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity. Today, we are proud to announce our official partnership with Women in Green Hydrogen (WiGH)! 🎉 WiGH is a network dedicated to connecting, empowering, and driving change for women in the hydrogen sector. This collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering diversity within the industry and leveraging all available talent to advance the energy transition. We are particularly proud to count one of WiGH’s co-founders, Carolynn Jaworska, as part of our team - making this partnership even more meaningful for us. On this Women’s History Month, let’s hear from Carla Reihle, Chairwoman of the Board at Women in Green Hydrogen and Carolynn Jaworska, Events Manager at the Hydrogen Council. "Gender equality isn’t a solo effort—it’s a collective commitment that requires everyone, women and men alike. To truly accelerate progress, we can’t afford to think in gender divisions. True progress happens in everyday actions—offering opportunities, lifting each other up, and stepping up for one another. Because equality isn’t just a women’s issue—it’s everyone’s responsibility, and it’s essential for driving real innovation and lasting change." - Carla Reihle. “Awareness is key! Empowering women and amplifying their voices create ripples of positive change. When we recognize strengths, foster inclusivity, and encourage participation, we pave the way for a more balanced and progressive society. Small steps—like supporting, mentoring, and advocating—can lead to transformative shifts!” – Carolynn Jaworska. Diversity is not just a goal—it’s a strength. When we lift each other up, we accelerate progress. Happy Women’s History Month! #Hydrogen #IWD25 #DiversityInEnergy #WomenInHydrogen #WiGH #CleanEnergy

Hydrogen Council at CERAWeek ⚡💧 Yesterday, Hydrogen Council CEO Ivana Jemelkova joined a panel with Katherina Reiche, CEO at Westenergie AG, Caroline Stancell, VP Hydrogen for Mobility at Air Products Plc, and moderated by Shankari Srinivasan, Vice-President Global Gas & LNG, S&P Global Commodity Insights. The conversation focused on European policy developments and what they mean for global #hydrogen progress. Here are some key takeaways: 🔹 Europe is a global leader in the number of announced hydrogen projects, however, progress to Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) has been slow – especially compared to other regions that are moving quickly. 🔹 With the Clean Industrial Deal, the European Union re-affirmed its commitment to hydrogen and put forward a set of measures to cut red tape and drive a more streamlined and pragmatic implementation of key policy and funding tools. 🔹 This is a highly encouraging development; however, more work needs to be done to address key issues hampering progress and ensure the necessary clarity and predictability businesses and investors need. This includes practical implementation of the Renewable Energy Directive as well as clarity on eligible imports. 🔹 Despite a challenging environment, strong projects are progressing, and hydrogen is moving forward. We need to stay focused on stimulating demand, bringing down cost and unlocking business cases. #Hydrogen #IndustrialCompetitiveness #EnergyPolicy

🗞️ RWE and TotalEnergies agree groundbreaking long-term offtake agreement for green hydrogen Hydrogen Council member TotalEnergies has agreed with RWE on conditions for the purchase of green hydrogen over a period of 14 years. The agreement running until 2044 represents the biggest amount of carbon-neutral hydrogen ever contracted from a German electrolysis facility. The deal envisages RWE supplying TotalEnergies' Leuna refinery near Leipzig in eastern Germany, via its 300-megawatt electrolysis plant in Lingen in the west, which is set to start operation in 2027. TotalEnergies will purchase around 30,000 metric tons of green hydrogen per year from RWE. 💡 Using 30,000 metric tons of green hydrogen in a refinery saves 300,000 metric tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of how much 140,000 cars emit on average per year. Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, stated: “We are looking forward to developing further our partnership with RWE, our partner in several offshore wind projects in Germany and the Netherlands. This long-term green contract for green hydrogen marks an important milestone to reducing our CO2 emissions at our Leuna refinery. It will be made possible thanks to the completion of the H2 backbone by German authorities and their efficient support to green H2 customers like our Leuna refinery.” Markus Krebber, CEO RWE AG, declared: ”We are proud to have secured the first long-term offtake agreement for green hydrogen of this size with TotalEnergies in Germany. Six months after the investment decision for the construction of the 300-megawatt electrolysis plant in Lingen, we have acquired an important anchor customer in TotalEnergies. This shows that hydrogen works with the right incentives for customers.” Congratulations to our member for achieving this important milestone! 👉 Read more at: https://lnkd.in/gRECpVuy

📢 Clean hydrogen business cases are emerging—but policy implementation is key. Launched today, the Hydrogen Council’s 𝘏𝘺𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘯: 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘎𝘢𝘱 report, developed with McKinsey & Company, highlights how existing policies, if effectively implemented, could unlock ~8 Mt p.a. of clean hydrogen demand across the EU, US, and East Asia by 2030. ✅ Targeted measures including the transposition of Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), the rollout of Japan’s Contracts for Difference (CfD) mechanism and South Korea’s Clean Hydrogen Portfolio Standard (CHPS), and the implementation of the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) can drive market uptake. ✅ Expanding CCS networks, hydrogen refueling infrastructure, and lowering clean hydrogen production costs in these regions could unlock an additional ~13 Mt p.a. in existing sectors like refining and ammonia, and emerging use cases such as trucking. ✅ Unlocking demand in maritime, aviation, and other hard-to-abate sectors with few alternatives depends on continued action in the near-term to bridge cost gap and enable infrastructure development. 👉 Read the full report to learn more about the practical solutions to unlocking clean hydrogen demand: https://lnkd.in/ePXbrYC9 #ClosingTheCostGap #CleanHydrogen

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear colleague, friend and Hydrogen Council Secretariat Team member, Dr. Andrei V. Tchouvelev, following a brave fight with an illness. Andrei was a highly recognized and valued expert in the hydrogen space, who made a lasting contribution through several key international bodies including the ISO - International Organization for Standardization, IEA Hydrogen TCP , HySafe and UNECE: Working Party on Regulatory Cooperation and Standardization Policies (WP.6) and, of course, the Hydrogen Council. As we connect with members, partners and teams during this time and start to process this tremendous loss, we are moved by the thoughtful messages from those who appreciated not only Andrei’s extraordinary issue expertise but especially his profound humanity, wisdom, generosity, and kindness. If you would like to join us as we honor Andrei’s life and legacy, please don't hesitate to share your messages with secretariat@hydrogencouncil.com. It is in the spirit of service, courage, and collaboration - values that Andrei personified and inspired in us all - that we continue to keep moving hydrogen forward.
