I think of it like this: girls and women are more than half the world’s population. If we are to successfully address the climate crisis, we need women in the rooms where decisions are being made that affect the climate (and almost all decisions now do). Educating girls brings them into those rooms, and expands the number and approaches of possible decision-makers and solutions. https://lnkd.in/dKAa4wVy

Climate justice is a part of intersectional feminism. One of my primary areas of interest is environmental justice.

Starts-December 26th Ends- January 14th 20 days of impactful activism, addressing crucial issues via social media handles. Diving into: 1. Human Rights- The essence of human rights, existing laws for Human Rights and illuminate the plight of different regions facing human rights crises. 2. Climate Change - Unearth the realities of climate change, share eco-friendly solutions, and promote local initiatives practicing sustainable practices in Sierra Leone. 3. Gender-Based Violence- Raise awareness, share survivor stories, and empower each other in the fight against gender-based violence. How to Participate: 1. Follow us on social media for daily updates. 2. Engage in discussions, share your thoughts as comments, and spread awareness.

Earth Day 2024 is a day to highlight feminist climate justice activists across the world. Global Fund for Women supports activists and movements working toward climate justice. But what is climate justice? 🌊 Climate justice centers the lived realities and grounded knowledge of communities most impacted by—and least responsible for—the climate crisis, such as rural and Indigenous communities and those in countries recovering from long histories of extraction, colonialism, and military conflict. 🌍 Climate justice is grounded in intersectionality, recognizing that the struggle for a just and sustainable future is deeply connected to struggles for racial justice, gender justice, immigration justice, and so many more. 🔥 Climate justice is intergenerational, centering the voices of young people who are rallying for their own sustainable futures and fostering solidarity with older generations. 🌱 Climate justice resists Band-Aid solutions and emphasizes addressing the root causes of injustice.
