🌟 Exciting news: Northwell Health-GoHealth pediatric centers are now Autism-Friendly Designated! 🌟 We're thrilled to share that Northwell Health-GoHealth pediatric centers in New York (Lake Success, Hewlett, East Northport) have been officially recognized with the Autism Speaks Autism Friendly Designation! 🎉      Our center teams saw firsthand how difficult seeking care can be for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families, so they tackled the challenge head on. Partnering with organizations like Autism Speaks and Cohen Children's Medical Center's Bee Mindful program, Northwell Health-GoHealth is leading the way in making urgent care less scary and more comfortable for all patients. By embracing practices that cater to the unique needs of the autism community, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels understood and valued.   What This Means:   🔹 Enhanced accessibility and support tailored for individuals with ASD.  🔹 Dimmable lights and sensory kits to ease overstimulation.  🔹 Private, non-verbal ways for patients with ASD to self-identify and request accommodation.  🔹 A focus on creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all.  🔹 Continued education and training for our team to ensure we are ready to provide inclusive care for patients with autism and related conditions.      This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, and it’s only the beginning. Their recent actions truly embody professionalism and an unwavering commitment to the community. When alerted about an unconscious individual in the parking lot, this team didn’t hesitate. They immediately called 911 and rushed to the scene, equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED), ready to provide CPR if needed.
